We're told at reception that the room was up 2 flight of stairs but it would be worth it, Walking into room 12 our breath was taken away, it was definitely worth the climb. "Wonderful stay. The setting is very peaceful and calm, after a 2 night stay we felt utterly replenished. The beds and pillows were large and comfortable. Robes and slippers were provided. The staff were friendly, approachable and professional. The spa is truly a gem here. Clean , was never crowded and relaxing. We never had any treatments but didn't feel like we missed out on anything. Loved sitting outside the spa and eating after a relaxing spa session. Special mention to Victoria at the spa...

Over the course of a week, I had the fish & chips, the burger, a chicken Caesar salad, and multiple variations of the eggs Benedict. "Large, comfortable room with a modern en-suite. Very amenable and accommodating hosts with nice ideas such as putting on complimentary food in the bar during England World Cup games. We had a “simple” pie & chips from the menu and it was terrific with, as promised, real gravy. We didn’t have full English breakfast but the toast on the Continental option from a local artisan baker was fab. Lots of little touches that make the Royal Oak a little different from the ordinary."

"We only had an overnight stop here, but it was a great place to stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the room and general public areas of the property were all fine. We had an evening meal and a full breakfast and they were both very tasty. Having an EV charger (22kW) in the car park was a really useful bonus as we left our car to charge overnight. Would definitely stay here again."
