Very nicely decorated space with a cabin feel. Very clean & kitchen stocked with all we needed for cooking. With it being winter the gas fireplace was warm, comfy, & romantic for our get away.

Being way off season I feel they should lower the rates - didn’t seem but a few guests maybe -check in time is 4pm and check out time 9am when we booked one night was a little inconvenient for $200 spent. The place was nice and clean. Looked newly renovated - had the amenities needed it was just the cost that seemed high- but if it was high peak season definitely wouldn’t mention cost

This was a noisy frenetic resort. It has not been very well kept up. The hut with the kayaks and other watercraft was a mess. There were not enough life preserves for those who use the watercraft. The Pickleball court is a joke and the net cannot be raised high enough for adults to be used. we stayed in one of the rooms above the office. We had our two dogs, but they were well behaved and quiet. The dogs next-door barked all the time and along into the night. It was terrible. I thought when I reserved that I was getting a cabin instead of a room above the office. Both my fiancé and I are senior citizens and we had to haul our luggage up a very long steep stairway to the second floor to our unit. There were no elevators. It was a lot of money for very poor amenities, very poorly kept up, and equipment, broken or rundown. This place needs new managers and some money to get it up to an acceptable level.

I booked the night before for a fishing trip on mille lacs. Unfortunately the trip had to be canceled due to high winds. I called numerous times to finally speak with someone to cancel my reservation. They wouldn't work with me on only paying half of the nights stay.

There was no remote control for the bedroom tv. I believe there should have been a remote to operate the fireplace but that one was missing too. Also, no forks in the silverware drawer. Although the entire 6 unit building was vacant except for one resident, my room was placed next to that resident. Other than that, the room was nice. Shower water pressure was excellent.

Super friendly & helpful staff--great stay.

Quick overnight stay over New Years... used to rest our head after the evening's festivities. Guest Services staff were great-- contacted me ahead with check in information and provided a number should we need anything during our stay; also worked with us on a late check out which was appreciated! Space was quiet, clean, and prepped for us without issue. Had hopes for more comfortable pillows...a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. It wouldn't deter us from booking another stay at Appledoorn's. Only other MINOR issue was the TV-- volume was hard to maneuver to a quiet viewing level. Even at level 3 is was loud, and level 2 shut the volume off without muting. TV clarity and access to channels were both great. Again, not enough to deter us, but if you're with a partner that is a light sleeper and you want to watch TV, one of you is going to have difficulties. :) Overall a great stay--positive experience, friendly professional staff, and a clean, welcoming environment. I'm guessing it's a hopping place in the summer months. Would not hesitate to book again.

Overnight Stay

Quick business stay. The room accommodations and view were amazing. I noted there was a restaurant on site but was disappointed that it was not open during my stay. I had to drive quite a distance to find a restaurant. If I had known it was closed during my stay I would have prepared or stayed somewhere else.

Pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs!

Such a pleasant stay on Lake Mille Lacs! We were in town for a wedding, and I wish we could have spent more time taking advantage of the amenities, like the beautiful beach. The property was quiet, family friendly, and clean.

Appledoorn's Sunset Bay Resort

The resort is a well laid out family resort. Our getaway took place during covid-19 and was very private and relaxing. The quad hotel we stayed in was beautiful, spacious, clean and tastefully decorated. We are looking forward to returning in summer to enjoy all the fun resort activities!

Restaurant was always closed

This place was nice but one issue we had was that we could never go to the restaurant and eat. There was a wedding so the restaurant was closes for dinner. We asked if they wohld be open in the morning, we were told yes, but then we got there at 9am and it was closed. Just disappointing that we picked to stay here for the convenience and ended up having to go elsewhere to eat. I just wish that they would treat the guests the same as the wedding party.

The place was great. I cannot wait to return. Lake is awesome, the grounds are well maintained. Staff were friendly and helpful. Mattress on bed is ready to be replaced. Other than that excellent. Quiet in the evenings. Our A/C went out and the manager and staff was more than accommodating.
