Communications much better once I realized they use What’s App The Hotel is lovely in a perfect location in Old Montreal. We walked with ease to almost everything we wanted to do including amazing dinners and the Aura show at Notre Dame We stayed in the room with bedroom and living room space. Very comfortable. Would highly recommend staying at Hotel Alexander.

I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Super clean, super quiet, extremely nice furnature, and it included a laundry and kitchen (even a dishwasher) in the room. A true home away from home!

The location was good. The place was very big. Bed and TV were great. Luggage storage was convenient. Nice to have a washer and dryer. Areas that need improvement: Stain on the bed sheets. Towel bar broken off the wall. Dirty bathroom fan that didn’t work. Hole in bathroom door. Dryer vents had not been cleaned and were full of lint Although we booked and paid three months ahead of time they gave us a room in the basement. No lap top station as described when we booked the room. Noisy in the basement room. Only one hand towel provided. Limited storage for clothes. Although we communicated some of these deficiencies after check in, nobody ever came to address them.

There is no signage for the hotel and we had no TV the entire stay. This is not without efforts to ask for assistance. We had to communicate through Expedia which the only message we received back to our issues was a welcoming response. There were crumbs and food under the couch cushions which we needed for a bed. Our towels were still wet in the washing machine so we dried them. Reception other than one morning felt like we were bothering them yet when the manager turned his screen to show me something he was watching a soccer game.

I am a non‑smoker. I was staying here with my two children over Easter Sunday. Didn’t want us to spend it alone, we drove all the way to Montreal to spend it with family and friends. On that day, I had work. I got off a call, happy, and I had ordered lunch for us, my guests and us. One friend asked to smoke. As a non‑smoker and first‑time guest in a Canadian hotel, I hadn’t really registered the no‑smoking sign, and I come from Lebanon and Dubai where hotel rules around smoking are different, so I didn’t realise how strict this policy was. I told my friend to open the window and have his cigarette—that was my mistake, and I accept that. The concierge came to the room several times. Each time I was honest: my friend had smoked, and as soon as the hotel called and told us to stop, we did, and the smoking stopped immediately. Despite this, I was ordered to pack and leave within 30 minutes while alone with two kids, suddenly scrambling to move everything and find another hotel. The manager’s tone felt harsh and completely lacking empathy for our situation. What should have been a special Easter stay became very stressful and upsetting. I respect strict non‑smoking policies, but the way this was handled—treating a brief, honest mistake that stopped right away as something much worse—felt completely disproportionate, with no flexibility or compassion toward a parent travelling with children. I left feeling relieved to be out of this environment and would not stay here again.

Serious Management and Service Failure I was traveling solo and booked the “Exclusive Apartment,” which was not the cheapest option. Upon arrival at 4 PM (official check-in time), I was informed that my basement-level unit was affected by flooding in the corridor after heavy rainfall and was offered free cancellation. However, cancelling at that stage would have left me without accommodation during a busy period. I requested another room but was told the hotel was full. After waiting in the lobby, the team eventually arranged a serviced apartment elsewhere. The relocation process exposed serious management and communication failures. Upon arrival at the replacement property, I had to explain the entire situation again because the receiving receptionist had not been properly informed. Although the receptionist was helpful, the lack of coordination created further stress. The replacement location was supposed to be 10 minutes away but took over 45 minutes due to road closures. After an already difficult travel day, I spent additional time resolving an issue that was not caused by me. I later requested to speak with a manager and asked only for reasonable compensation: reimbursement of parking fees at both locations (less than CAD 10 total) and consideration of a partial refund due to the last-minute relocation, repeated parking/unloading, and disruption. The manager’s response was disappointing. The focus was repeatedly placed on the rainfall being an “exceptional circumstance.

We stayed there for two nights in two different rooms. The place itself is well-maintained and clean, but the side street where the main entrance is located was not exactly clean. The first night there were non-stop loud noises from what looked like some cleaning operation, but the street didn't look any better the next morning.

Really liked Alexander Hotel. The location is fantastic - right in the middle of Old Montreal and a quick walk to any of the sites. Perfect location. The staff were courteous and the check in and out process was really, really quick. The room was lovely. Very well appointed with a kitchenette, washer, dryer, small cafe table to sit at. I only spent one night in town, but was comfortable and enjoyed it.
