"Bit tired to be honest, grubby dust everywhere in the rooms and bathroom stains Breakfast average for the price, coffee awful, toast not toasted For the price really not worth it in my opinion, Rub Room restaurant was the highlight food was great decor was tired, staff at the restaurant were great"

"Staff very friendly and helpful. Slight mistake when checking in but this was resolved with no fuss. Hotel is excellently located and wonderful big rooms with plenty of character and no noise at all overnight."

"Well located hotel. Robert on reception was very helpful & knowledgeable. However, there were a number of things that annoyed me. No shower cap, no face washer, no rubbish bags in the bins. Different person's name on the welcome on the tv which couldn’t be changed. The bedding was uncomfortable, didn’t seem to fit very well. In the bar I tried to put my meal on my room but couldn’t because I hadn’t been asked for a credit card when I checked in. Was able to pay by cash even though on Expedia it said the hotel was cashless! "

"Good free breakfast for all guests although we were charged extra by Expedia which was annoying. Dated decor in the rooms but clean bathroom. Our room was very cold and the heating only worked intermittently (we turned the radiator to full but it came on for about an hour one night and roasted us on the final night, two other nights had no heating at all). Parking was ok but we got the last available space on a couple of days after going out… I think you can park in the approach road for free until 8am but don’t quote me on that."

"Good breakfast and convenient to the city sites. Pay parking on the streets, but not expensive. Only small cars fit in spaces close by."

"A great room, with a spacious bathroom which was clean and well maintained. A fantastic breakfast in the morning with a full English alongside cereal etc. great value. The guest house is located in a nice convenient area."

"Room was clean and comfortable, staff were really friendly and helpful. The bar had a cosy, comfy friendly local feel about it. The only thing I can mention negatively is that Expedia has the walking time to Durham down incorrectly. I think they meant it is a 13 minute drive not a 13 minute walk. This was no fault of the place where we were staying. It still wasn't a problem though, there is a bus stop straight across the road and an uber cost under £10. We didn't have food there because we'd already eaten, but there was plenty of choice on the menu all at a good price. We would definitely stay again"

"We got there and there was a note on the door saying the hotel was repossessed as and they still took payment out of my account do I’m now in the middle of trying to get money back, "
