"They had amazing bfast excellent staff and clean rooms but what I found baffling is that the hotel is not wheelchair friendly they have no ramps into the property just stairs"

"We found the service industry in South Africa to be one of the best of any place we have traveled and the hotel and staff did not disappoint. We were very pleased with everything. The Beach view was a bonus"

"This old-fashioned guest house is a lovely place to stay in the central Durban area. We really appreciated the ease of getting around -- easy access to many good things. The owners are friendly, and the staff are outstanding. We enjoyed our stay very much."

"I feel so welcome, excellent service. "

"I stayed at Southey House for two nights and it was a very nice stay. The room was clean and spacious and had a refrigerator and water, coffee and tea. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was very good with eggs, bacon, oats, yogurt, fresh fruit, and more. The bed was very comfortable and had a nice and varm duvet. "One of the best stays of our trip! The hotel is beautiful, with lovely classic furniture and welcoming communal areas. Our room was very spacious and comfortable, with a sitting area and a huge, comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Even after check-out, while I was waiting to leave, someone kindly brought me a glass of juice—a small gesture that really stayed with me. We wished we could have stayed longer. A wonderful experience, 10/10!"

"I stayed 3 nights and felt at home here. Great ocean views too. Definitely will stay here again when I come with my family next time ."

"The cover thing about the hotel was the location. Great view of the beach and ocean and easy to walk e everywhere. Room was close to the pool and parking was free and easy. The shower leaked through the bottom by the door. People by pool woke us at 3:00 am one night not a 5 star hotel but I’d stay there again. Not expensive. Nice staff "

"Best place to stay in Durban, such a peaceful and calm environment."

"Clean room"

"Great locationIt was a good relaxed and quite stay. Host is welcoming and very helpful. I certainly will be booking for my next stay in the city. I can’t rate excellent, as there is always a room for improvement. I recommend Mackaya Guest Hiuse! "
