We spent five nights Tuesday - Sunday.
Five stars for our housekeeper “Winnie” who was very professional and hospitable. She kept our room very clean and fresh. I also give five stars for the room size and bathroom size. I’ve stayed in a lot of NYC hotels and this was a great room size for the price.
Four stars for location with easy subway access. However, Friday and Saturday nights the yelling and honking outside kept us awake from 1-4am. If you’ll be out there with them, then this won’t bother you but we are late forties with a child. The room was on the 6th floor facing Orchard St. It was quiet on the weeknights and we didn’t hear the nightclub during our stay.
Two stars for the property condition. Despite it being clean and large, we were surprised by how beat up our room was. Holes and stains on the walls, scratches on the wood floor, and paint chipped off the lacquer chair arms. The carpet in the hallways was dingy and the elevators were dark and stinky.
Another con was the daily amenity fee which you can use for the minibar or room service but it isn’t actually enough to cover anything so it’s just a ruse to get you to spend more money. It feels scammy. I asked for an empty fridge since we’d be there a few days. We never opened the mini bar yet they still tried to charge us for tequila and mixed nuts on our final bill. I likely wouldn’t stay again based solely on this. We usually stay in the 20s and would likely return to that area in the future.
