"I had a wonderful stay at Pen-y-bryn Lodge. The property is a beautiful historic building with a peaceful atmosphere, and the room was spacious, spotless, and full of character. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, making the stay feel warm and personal. Overall, a fantastic experience — I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting Oamaru."

"The door was broken with a screw hanging out of the door handle which is asking for injury. When we first got there they said the key was in the door which isn’t very safe, then next minute they have lost the key and it takes them 10-15 to find us a key while we just stand around and wait. We go upstairs see the door handle and it’s literally a box with a bed in it. The bathroom had a dead fly in the shower. Wanted a full refund but only got half even through we did not stay there. DO NOT...

"Room and kitchen were clean and room accomdated 4 people comfortably. Parking was tight but adequate. Joy contacted us around 6:00 pm to find out our ETA and arranged a late arrival by leaving the key in a lockbox which was very helpful. Would recommend this property. "

"Wonderful historic building that was once a girl's boarding school. Very quiet location with great walking areas on the property. Very friendly and helpful staff. Delicious chocolates also made on the property. Would highly recommend. "

"We were pleased to be located at the rear of the complex so didn’t hear traffic noise. The suite was situated nicely and clean and the beds were comfortable. Was especially happy to be welcomed by a cat, not sure if it’s part of the complex or neighbour but was a delightful surprise, just want to know its name. Only there for a night so only interaction with staff was check-in and the person was friendly. Kitchen is small but has the basic supplies to be able to prepare a simple meal."

"One of the best motel we have ever stayed. The staff is very great, and helpful. The room is 5 stars. We love the spa bath. It's relatively new room and very very clean. Near to the town center, and lots of restaurants. Will stay there again for sure."

"Reasonably clean and tidy No tv in the lounge but one in bedroom Was a bit of road noise from trucks in units on the roadside but not unbearable. Beds were comfy , sheets clean etc."

"The bed was rock hard and the shower dribbled out. The room was clean and tidy and it was evident that they are trying to upgrade the facilites. "

"Convenient location and comfortable and well appointed room - perfect for our one night stay in Oamaru. Easy parking and ground floor room made access very easy. Would not hesitate to recommend to other travellers. We didn’t use the on site restaurant or bar facilities so can’t comment on that."
