"The hotel is minutes away from the centre of Newark. The lobby is inviting, lovely bar area with pool table and spacious dining room. The guests' outside area is clean and a pleasant place to relax. The staff were lovely, friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Our room, although not the biggest, had everything we needed including a fan which was welcome in the heatwave. Breakfast was plentiful and the guy overseeing it was extremely helpful and accommodating making sure everyone had what they wanted.
The car park area and the almost derelict building beside the hotel is a bit off-putting but the hotel itself was fine. A wall light in our room didn't work, the wallpaper on the ceiling showed large patches of damp and the desk/dressing table glass top was cracked in several places. We didn't highlight these issues to the hotel as we were only there for one night. There was a bad drain smell throughout the hotel but I guess the hot weather made this more noticeable.
Overall, it's a decent, friendly hotel and we will be using it again in the future."
