"I am American and my beach vacations are usually to Mexico. Please keep that in mind when reading my review as that is what I will compare most of it to. I am spoiled. If you are familiar with that type of resort, this will dissapoint you. 1. If you are expecting something nice and modern you will not get that here. This hotel is very outdated. The service is on par for a nicer hotel. The staff was 4/5, Actual hotel probably 2/5. The AC is very weak and Okinawa is hot and humid. The first night we were sweating and had to call for a fan. We left the ac running the next day and it was much more comfortable. Also the parking lot is far from the hotel. They do have a shuttle though. 2. The beach was fantastic. The water here is some of the best I've seen. Bahamas level or better. There are still some fish in the swimming area even though its netted off. 3. Expensive! This hotel was the most expensive of our entire Japan trip and probably the worst. Not only was the stay expensive but everything you wanted to do there cost extra and there was a huge mark up on drinks. I got used to paying under 500 yen for a beer in the mainland but here it was 1000 for one beer. Even 990 for a cola! I got used to Japan prices for the previous 10 days and then got sticker shock when I had to pay America type prices. I would not stay here again. Would just pay to use beach"

"Check in service was outstanding. They also arranged transportation to and from the airport for us based on the room we booked, which was a beautiful corner suite facing the ocean. Really enjoyed the view. Kids loved snorkeling and the water sports."

"What a lovely place to stay. Beautiful view of the ocean and easy access to it. Love the hotel pajamas. They are so comfortable. We rented a car and had a wonderful time exploring nearby areas and driving north. Also, we could go at our own pace and not worry about getting to the tours on time and feeling rushed through our experiences. We would love to stay here again if we return to Onna City. Very clean, great customer service, great amenities, spacious accommodations."

Grand Mercure Okinawa Cape Zanpa Resort

"This place was amazing, particularly with two children under 12. The water slides were a MASSIVE hit. They had never been on a water slide before and went down them about 50 times!! The pools are fantastic, a really nice selection of different sizes, depths and activities. The breakfast each morning was phenomenal! Staff were so friendly, always helpful. Rooms were not huge, but definitely satisfactory and clean. One issue we did have was the incredibly limited ability to hang up wet items, like towels and bathers, to dry. They either need a lot more hooks in the bathroom, a pull out line from the wall in the bathroom, or a portable line you can sit out on the balcony. Nearby burger joint was great for lunches, dinner, or great coffee and cold drinks. Oh, and one thing that truly shocked us (being Aussies) but was really amazing, is the social time down in the lobby from 3-6pm then 9-11pm. Basically an open bar, help yourself, spirits, beer, soft drinks, and little bar snacks of lollies, crackers, nuts and chocolate. Kids and adults alike. Definitely a place we would be happy to come back to again. Just one caution, get the shuttle bus or airport limoscene bus, if coming from Naha. Don’t get a taxi. Ask me how I know!"
