"All was good, staff was fantastic. Being I such a hot and humid climate, and the heavy use of AC, there must be some attention to the walls and ceilings regarding mold and mildew. Our room was barley noticeable, others reported to us their rooms were slightly worse. It's expected in this tough environment, just saying others may not be as understanding. All in all, great experience, we would come back."
"A Perfect Coastal Getaway at Shutters on the BanksOur recent stay at Shutters on the Banks in the Outer Banks area was absolutely fantastic. Located right on the oceanfront at Mile Post 8, this family-owned boutique hotel perfectly captures the relaxing, welcoming charm of the North Carolina coast. The location is unbeatable, offering direct beach access via a beautiful wooden boardwalk that leads straight to the sand. Starting the morning with a cup of coffee at the dune-top gazebo while watching the sunrise over the Atlantic was an unforgettable highlight of our trip. It is also central to fantastic dining, local shops, and classic attractions like the Wright Brothers National Memorial. Our room was clean, comfortable, and well-maintained. We loved the coastal aesthetic, particularly the adjustable wooden window shutters that give the hotel its unique character. The room came fully equipped with convenient amenities like a mini-fridge, microwave, and high-speed Wi-Fi, making it easy to settle in and unwind. One of the standout features of this property is the choice of two excellent saltwater pools. Having both a heated indoor pool with a hot tub and a spacious outdoor pool meant that we could enjoy a swim regardless of the weather. Additionally, the complimentary daily breakfast was a wonderful perk, featuring a great selection of fresh breakfast staples and a fun do-it-yourself waffle station that kept everyone satisfied before hitting the beach.Highly recommended for couple"
"Smell throughout hotel was amazing!!! Very good! It just needs like a convenient food market,l like other hotels! we were starving after 10 and everything was closed. Pool Towels were an issue! And they should have the bar service brought to you at the beach"
"We really enjoyed our time here, it’s a beautiful property with lots of fun stuff to do. Staff is helpful and accommodating. We will most likely be back."
"Overall, we really enjoyed staying here. When we first walked in one of the first things I noticed was that it smelled very clean, which I appreciated. It also looked clean and well maintained. I was disappointed though that the dining area had a lot of flies. It was strangely all concentrated around the dining area, like there was some kind of fly problem specifically in the dining area. But the room is itself very clean and the other amenities were well maintained."
"Clean comfortable beds, very nice Walkin Shower, wonderful buffet breakfast, friendly n helpful staff, under cover parking with a nice indoor pool. You have to walk up n over the Wooden Stairs to cross the Sand Dune to get to the Ocean n Beach. Be sure to bring Beach Chairs n Shade, other wise pay $57 a day for 2 Chairs n Shade Umbrella. Have the Kids bring their Kites as the Wind is always blowing. Lots of Restaurants, Goofy Golf, 1 Movie Theater, Target, Walmart, Home Depot n Lowe’s within 1/2 hr drive. The Wright Brothers 1st Flight Museum is only 1/2 hr away, it’s a MUST SEE"
"This was our first visit to Hatteras and our hotel experience was awesome! We were able to check in early to the hotel and our room was oceanfront on the third floor, so we had an awesome view and really got to experience the full beach experience! We loved the cleanliness and the room was pretty large. The front desk staff was friendly and we appreciated being able to get into our room early after a long morning of travel! We appreciated being able to walk right to the beach rather than having to park somewhere else. We could go to the beach for an hour, come back to the room, go back down to the beach… Really can’t beat the location!
There is some construction/dredging going on to the right of the hotel if you were facing the oceanfront… Really didn’t bother us since we are from an area that has dredging, and only there for one night, but if we were there for an entire week, that would’ve been annoying! There was still plenty of beach to enjoy, but kind of hard to relax with the noise of bulldozers a few feet away from your beach chairs."
"It was a clean place to stay with comfy beds for a last minute weekend trip. Love the location! Easy check-in/check-out. The soap dispensers didn’t work and there is no filtered water but tap was ok for the short term. Overall good little beach place…would stay again!"
