VOI Arenella Resort

"Really lovely, well maintained resort, with attractive grounds. There are 2 large pools which are very clean and offer shallow children's section alongside a deeper section. One of the pools is quieter and the other has loud music, we enjoyed using both of them. The staff are very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Being mainly English speakers, we didn't find it difficult to communicate with the staff at all. We went to the beach a couple of times, it is 600m away but the hotel has transport to take people which runs most of the day. We went to the evening shows most night but they are mostly in Italian so we struggled a bit, however, our 4 year old daughter still enjoyed dancing along and watching parts of it. The best part is the food! We had delicious pastas, pizza, fish, vegetables, fruit... the food is varied and fresh. Also delicious deserts. The food quality is really good. The drinks need to be improved - they are served mostly in small plastic cups which isn't ideal. To note - we were all inclusive and paid more for a Superior room which was definitely worth it as you get access to a more premium restaurant and you get reserved beach chairs, beach towels, etc. Overall it beat my expectations and we'd go again."

"Close to the beach, clean, and gracious host - makes for a great vacation! Breakfast was good, and enough to start our day. The host made useful suggestions, and was always present if we needed anything. Highly recommended! Grazie mille!!"

"Spectacular setting, very rural and quiet therefore if you don’t intend to stay at the hotel pool for your whole stay then a car is a must. The rooms were spotless, cleaned everyday. The property is very old and therefore can’t be expected to look like a new hotel but in the main it was well maintained and had a certain charm about it. The 4 star review could quite easily have been 5 if it wasn’t for our one experience of dining on the first night, which at best could be described as poor. This is no reflection on our server, Concetta. Unfortunately the quality of food coming out of the kitchen was below what we expected. We had 3 courses. The first was hot on the outside but cold on the inside. The second course was very over cooked in some parts but not others. And the 3rd course was absolutely inedible. My opinion, although disputed by the staff was that the food had been cooked in a microwave. I can’t say that this is how it was cooked but the food was so inedible we actually sent it straight back to the kitchen. We were offered a replacement meal by Concetta but to be honest our experience to that point really spoilt our appetite. We were most disappointed that the Chef or Lusya the owner made no attempt to speak to us about it or even apologise. Having said that, as we didn’t eat in the hotel for the rest of our stay, the food on other nights may have improved."

"The room was spacious, very clean, balcony was huge with a view over the front of the hotel. The staff were very friendly. Particularly the resteraunt staff. Veronica was very helpful with the menu and very courteous. The food was excellent both for breakfast & Dinner. A minor observation was that the power sockets in the room required a different adapter, not supplied , we had to loan from reception. Also there was no tea making facilities in the room , we had to ask for this from reception, and inconvenience rather than a complaint, we should of been told of this on checking in. The Bars both inside & by the pool were not operational., throughout our stay. Overall it was a very nice hotel oh and the pools were very good & well maintained. Anyone who may be planning to go there should be aware that it's a remote location, no local transport whatsoever. Imperative that you need a car. There is no shuttle bus available. A taxi cost £60 to the town. I don't think I've been over critical, but I hope this review helps you as a potential visitor."

"Location is off the beaten track but provides great views and a peaceful location. Lots of work had been done to create this place and we understand that lots more is in the pipeline which is great. Lovely welcome on arrival and very helpful and informative staff. If you have use of a car, then we found this was a great base for exploring the south eastern parts of Sicily."
