"Superplek. De kamers zijn fantastisch. De eigenaars zijn heel vriendelijke mensen en helpen je met het uitzoeken van leuke activiteiten. De boottocht op de boot van de eigenaar was een hoogtepunt. Het eten wordt bereid door de eigenares en is van topkwaliteit."

We stayed 4 nights at Rancho Encantado and it was a totally unforgettable experience, in all the good ways!
We had the privilege of staying in 2 different types of room during our stay - we were booked into a lake side cottage but the lovely Gerardo moved us to a Laguna Master Suite for two of the nights as there was a bit of construction going on, and we wanted to avoid the noise. I have to say, both styles of rooms are beautiful and for different reasons. The lake side cottages feel like...

The hotel is remote, down a 2km dirt track road. This adds to the relaxation and "switch off" feeling. The property is right on the lagoon, so it is very beautiful and nice to be so close to the water. The kayaks are free to use. However, the hotel has only 1 restaurant and the menu is rather limited. Service was rather slow considering the place never had more than 4 tables for dinner service. Given that there are no other places to eat nearby and no hotel entertainment, evenings can feel a...

I’m really glad we made a trip down to Bacalar lagoon and Buenavista during our 2 week trip to Mexico. It was great to be somewhere less touristy and developed than Tulum up the coast.
The hotel is pretty remote, we had to get the bus to Bacalar and then a taxi. A car would have been better.
Buenavista itself is a sleepy, authentic village. Don’t expect loads of eating options, you’re very limited but there are a couple of very local places (in houses) where you can eat. The food at the hotel...

Great stay. Staff friendly, helpful & easily contactable via whatsapp. Breakfast from their hotel was delicious & was able to be served to our balcony. Room & balcony spacious with tranquil lagoon views. Kayaks, paddleboards & life jackets available to use - would recommend an early morning to do this at sunrise!

Beautiful lagoon location, and communal space for sitting.
The deluxe garden room is quite small, and not really a garden room - you look onto the communal pathway, so there’s no view to look at / you need the curtains closed if in your room. I would recommend staying in a room with a view.
Lunch options were delicious, especially the vegetarian burger. But the restaurant overall, and especially the breakfast is very overpriced. Water is also not free, which I think is quite poor for such a...

Fantastic place to stay very relaxing and the team working here are amazing. Lots of great info about Bacalar and really friendly. Having kayaks and paddle boards included was perfect to get out on the lake. Highly recommend going to the pier in the morning to watch the sunrise
