"One of the best motel we have ever stayed. The staff is very great, and helpful. The room is 5 stars. We love the spa bath. It's relatively new room and very very clean. Near to the town center, and lots of restaurants. Will stay there again for sure."

"This motel was very average. Although it’s clearly had a paint job in the last few years it really needed some maintenance done. The shower leaked badly & could really do with a decent clean. Reception didn’t appear to have anyone there at anytime, so getting clean towels etc was hard work. The only thing it had going for it was a comfortable bed!"

"Convenient location and comfortable and well appointed room - perfect for our one night stay in Oamaru. Easy parking and ground floor room made access very easy. Would not hesitate to recommend to other travellers. We didn’t use the on site restaurant or bar facilities so can’t comment on that."

"Unit was clean, tidy, a little dated but in good condition. Conveniently located, helpful staff. The clincher for us is the dog-friendly classification allowing us to take with us our beloved black Labrador. The one thing that would lift the unit to 5 stars would be a heat pump/air conditioning. We shall certainly book again. "

"I had a wonderful stay at Pen-y-bryn Lodge. The property is a beautiful historic building with a peaceful atmosphere, and the room was spacious, spotless, and full of character. The hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming, making the stay feel warm and personal. Overall, a fantastic experience — I would highly recommend this lodge to anyone visiting Oamaru."
