Marvel at the giant yachts in this playground for the rich and famous, situated below the old quarter of Cannes.

Cannes Harbour, or Old Port, sits in the heart of the glamorous city, below the historic old town. Filling its berths are a mixture of sailboats, yachts and super yachts, creating one of the most iconic sights of this part of the French Riviera.

The harbor has more than 800 berths, and the largest ships are alongside the wooden pier by the Harbor Office. Walk along the pier for a closer look at these luxury vessels. As you reach the end of the pier, look back at the gorgeous view of Cannes with its green hillside dotted with luxury homes.

Continue with your walk along the various quaysides, observing the sailboats as you go. If you want to go farther afield, charter a boat or yacht for a trip along the coastline or out to the nearby Lérins Islands.

Sit on a bench and watch as people walk through the marina. This is particularly entertaining during the Cannes Film Festival in May, when famous faces fill the city. In September, the Cannes Yachting Festival launches from here.

Just behind the harbor is Allées de la Liberté, narrow alleys lined with trees. Every weekday morning except Monday, there is a flower market here. On the weekends, search for bargains and curiosities in the flea market.

The harbor is a fantastic place to come for a meal. Dine in one of the restaurants facing the sea. As you savor delicious French and international cuisines, enjoy the fabulous views of the boats illuminating the dark water.

Cannes Harbor is located below Le Suquet, the old town. It is next to the Palace of Festivals and Congress Hall and the Town Hall. La Croisette, the beach-side promenade lined with chic restaurants, bars and boutiques is just a short walk away. Car parking is available, for a fee, in the lot nearby.
