"Great breakfast"

"Cons: it sits on the top of a VERY steep hill. You can take the 68 stairs or take the steep winding road! Both options suck! Do no attempt to carry luggage on either option! We arrived by train and took a taxi the 1.2 miles to the unit. Don’t make the same mistake we did and read the 2 in 1 unit as a washer and dryer (that is how the 2 in 2 units hate). This is ONLY a washer. The kitchen/refrigerator is in a shared space. Kinda weird having your food/drinks available to others.Houskeeping only came once during our 5 day stay- ended up having to was the towels ourselves! Pro: Super secure. Gotta get through a locked do to gain access to the complex. The door to the unit is code entry- Then your room within the unit has a keyed lock! Super comfortable bed with good bedding and pillows! Nice bathroom with a great shower."

"Very spacious and clean rooms. Also spacious bathrooms. Rooms facing the sea have excellent sea view from the large balcony. Buffet breakfast is nice. About 10 minutes walk from the central train station and also 10 mins walk to the ferry terminal where you can get tickets and board boats to various sightseeing ports of Amalfi, Positano, Capri, Etc. Bus stands also nearby within few minutes walking. Lots of eateries and stores in 5 minutes walk."

"Clean room with beautiful Italian floor tiles through out. Strong wifi with no issues for video. The staff Stefania was super helpful and her guide book was easy to scan QR code. I did eat at some is the recommended restaurants like Mama Rosa that was 5 minutes walking and there is Michelin recommend restaurant 2 minutes down the street. The bed and linens and AC were comfortable and very large bathroom with hand sprayer and overhead rainhead feature. The shower is very large and gorgeous tile with very hot water. I actually extended my stay for another 3 days because I liked the room and neighborhood area was perfect to walk between either ports for ferry rides. Stefania is very responsive and the room is well set up with kettle and coffee items and dishes and mini fridge. I had green tea with the Smeg kettle every morning. I highly recommend."

"We booked Hotel Montestella after we arrived at a horrible unsafe and dirty VRBO and needed an emergency place to stay for the next 4 nights. This place was a life saver for us and so clean! We absolutely enjoyed our stay and am very grateful that there was a room available. Everything was perfect. I would definitely stay here again and will be recommending to my friends and family. Thank you so much!!!"

"The good: The staff were helpful and the views from the room were awesome. The location is good, it is a very interesting suburb of Salerno. Public transportation was very accessible. The bad: There is no way around this but to say that the property in general is in poor shape. The shower and the tub in the room did not drain properly. The room door appeared to have problems being opened or closed, and the internal doors were likewise. The adjoining beach was not very useful because of broken glasses throughout. Finally, I stayed in countless other hotels in Europe and I can rate the breakfast quality and variety to be among the lowest tiers. General advice unrelated to the hotel: Traffic in Salerno and surrounding region is heavy, and neither trains nor buses run on time. Plan accordingly."
