"We stayed at Painters Lodge for one night and unfortunately would not recommend it or return ourselves.
Our check-in was delayed because our room was not ready. When we finally entered the room, the air conditioning was set to 15°C despite it being cool and rainy outside. The room felt very damp, and we were never able to get the chill out of it.
While the rooms have been renovated, the updates appeared cheap and lacked attention to detail. There were wet, crinkled paper doilies on the bathroom vanity, no hair dryer was provided, and there were no nightstands beside the bed, which was inconvenient. The kitchenette was extremely small and awkwardly located right by the front door.
The deck was in need of significant repair, and although we had requested a pet-friendly room, the carpet contained numerous stains, which left a poor impression.
Considering the price we paid, we expected much better. There are several far superior hotels in Campbell River that offer better value, comfort, and overall quality for the same price or less.
On a positive note, the front desk staff were very pleasant, helpful, and welcoming. We also stopped into the restaurant for a drink, and our waitress provided excellent service. The pool area looked very nice, although we did not have the opportunity to use it.
Overall, this property did not meet our expectations, and despite the friendly staff, we would not stay here again."
