"Stunning views from restaurant and room across as far as lake Arenal. All the food offerings were fantastic from breakfast to evening meals using home grown and home made items. Regular supply of wildlife to keep you entertained. Only slight negative was a reasonably long walk up a steep hill to get to the nearest shops etc but that’s no fault of the hotel. Also be aware there is no A/C in the rooms if you are as lucky as we were with the weather."

"The was the perfect place to stay in Monteverde. Cala Lodge was in a good location; very quiet and lots of wildlife hanging around. They had a wonderful breakfast and super friendly staff. A few nice restaurants, a market, and bakery within a 5 minute walk."

There is an aviary on site with macaws, peacocks and other birds. The is a stable on site as well. We were able to go horseback riding on the beach. There are three restaurant choices in addition to the buffet and snack bar. Reservations need to be made a day in advance in order to have dinner at the steakhouse, sushi restaurant, and Italian...

"This property was good for the price. It’s clean and comfortable. The property is dated but the owners really make this property a very nice stay. They are very accommodating and also helped with booking our tram reservation and provided recommendations for local eateries. We would stay again. Keep I mind if you have difficulty with stairs ask for the bottom floor rooms. Pura vida"
