"I got bumped from a flight out of Marco Polo Venice airport so I was forced to find accommodations until the following morning. I elected to go for something closer to VCE, preferably with a shuttle from and back to the airport. While the Crowne Plaza advertises a free shuttle they only provide it if you reserve it 24 hours in advance. I learned this after securing the reservation so I had to cough up 45€ for a taxi to get there. The Crowne Plaza is only about 16km from the airport but it...

"Easy 20 minute bus ride into Venice. The bus stop is just across the hotel and a bit down towards the gas station. Nice, clean property in a quiet neighborhood with a view of Venice from the terrace. The lobby was done up nicely as well as the back patio. Shuttle bus to and from airport was an additional charge, but available. The front desk staff and bar tender were friendly and spoke English."

"First of all the location is mere steps from the Piazza San Marco and getting to sit by the window and watch the gondolas and the people going about their day was cute. I love the bottle of champagne that the hotel provided for me and the staff went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. I didn't take a water taxi to the hotel but I did take one when I transferred to my next place and it's definitely easier than lugging your suitcase through the streets. "Breakfast is great! If you get there early, you can get a table with a canal view. It's a buffet and included in your stay Room is ok. The hotel is 500 years old, so keep that in mind. Room is quiet tho, and everything worked. Location is great! really a 3 min walk to rialto bridge in one direction and 3 min walk to st mark's square in the other direction. plenty of restaurants and shops around the hotel. "Its a great location- easy access both to quieter parts of Venice either north east or across teh canal and west and walking distance to St Marks and the Rialto. The staff were delightful and helpful. We took our disabled son with us and the stafff could not have been kinder to him. "This is the last time we'll stay here unfortunately. We had good experiences before. This time, the fire alarm went out each night, we were told because someone was smoking in their room. The manager didn't know how to turn them off. This severely affected us for the next day. There were some other minor problems, including not checking for and telling us when our baggage arrived late from the airport. We had to hunt around and find them ourselves."
