Outdoor activity centre This picture, taken from the western edge of the square, shows most of its northwestern quarter. A new pond in the foreground is built on the location of a spring. The land falls to a minor stream then rises to Camp Barn Farm on the left horizon. The area between is scored with tracks, all part of an outdoor activity centre where things like quad biking and scrambling are being practised. There was also the sound of airguns or clay pigeon shooting.

Footpath towards Ratley After a clear cross-field section the footpath is equally clear along this track. This is part of the Macmillan Way long distance path.

New pond, new fence The 1:25K map shows a spring here, but nothing this large. So this is a new pond, probably created for fishing use as part of the outdoor activity centre across the valley. These two men, in their corporate red overalls, are ensuring that they get the fence right.

Room was lovely, staff were very friendly and helpful. Lost a star as breakfast was a bit underwhelming, tiny, quite greasy sausages, just cooked bacon, slightly odd scrambled egg but horror of horrors, coffee from a "jug" 🙃.
