Unpleasant and Unfair Experience – Please Be Cautious
The day before checkout, we experienced a very uncomfortable situation.
We arrived late at night and clearly remember the room had two body towels and only one hand towel. The bathroom has only a hand shower and water splashes everywhere, so my husband handed me the two body towels outside the bathroom to keep them dry, and at that moment he clearly noticed there was only one hand towel provided.
The next morning, after checking out early for a tour, staff accused us of losing a hand towel and demanded payment. We refused, as we did not lose or take anything. They checked all our bags in front of us, and we even offered to go to the police to inspect our luggage. Despite this, the accusation continued until the owner intervened, apologised, and resolved the issue.
We immediately reported this incident to Expedia.
We were told the hotel has had previous issues with missing hand towels and that this was mentioned at check-in. Because of this, we were extremely careful with all items, which makes the accusation even more concerning.
The room was also **cleaned twice in one day**, which may have caused staff error or miscommunication.
We usually stay at small hotels to support local businesses, but this incident ruined our day and negatively affected our experience in Sapa.
Advice: Take photos or a short video of the room and provided items upon arrival and after housekeeping to avoid unfair accusations.
