This is the perfect last minute stay before your flight the next morning. It's an older hotel, clean with all the basic amenities. It provided an airport shuttle to the airport which is what was most convenient because we returned our car rental the night before. Extremely helpful and friendly staff. The price was right!

No hot water in the shower. Charged us an extra 15USD for the 2nd person in the room. Food was so-so and pricey. They offered fruit for the morning as we were leaving before breakfast was served. They gave us one small container - enough for one person. We’ve been staying here regularly when we arrive and prior to leaving Costa Rica over the years as have friends and family based on our recommendation. Sadly, we will likely change hotels based on our last experience. Very disappointing. I will no longer recommend this hotel.

L’eau de la piscine était si sale qu’on ne voyait pas le fond. Il y avait beaucoup de feuilles à la surface. Beaucoup de moustiques dans la chambre. Les lumières du corridor nous empêchaient de bien dormir car les rideaux ne sont pas assez opaques. On nous avait dit que l’on aurait des céréales pour déjeuner mais il n’y avait que du café.

The highlight was the breakfast as it was delicious. However, when we arrived around 10 pm from the airport and were tired the man at the front desk made us wait while he called uber to yell at them. Then we attempted to sleep, but it was so loud with cars, very loud planes overhead, dogs incessently barking, a rooster starting at 2am and cats fighting what sounded to be right outside our door. The women working at breakfast was hard working and pleasant and helped with an uber booking so she and breakfast added an extra star.

No sé qué fue peor, el ruido del aeropuerto o el de los coches y motos que pasan a unos pocos metros de la habitación, porque está justo pegado a una carretera. Aunque nada comparable con los 35-40 mosquitos que tuvimos que matar cuando entramos en la habitación. Todo muy lamentable. Es increíble que hayamos pagado casi 200$. Es insultante.

EVERYTHING about my stay was excellent. AS good as any top star accommodation AND the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and accommodating throughout. My room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was lovely and spacious, hot water shower, -all the details down to the lighting options had been thought of. The outdoor areas were charming, felt as if guests had been invited into a welcoming home space.

Once you get into the gate, the grounds were welcoming. The front desk staff was friendly at check-in and it was great to be able to have a shuttle in the morning. I did have to wake up the front desk person at 4am upon check out. The air conditioning didn't work and the TV had no sound. The listed price is for one person. They charge an additional $15 per person. You will hear every plane landing and taking off, so don't expect to sleep.

Nous avons bien aimé notre nuit à l'hôtel Brillasol. à 15 minutes max de l'aéroport, l'hôtel est tenu par du personnel accueillant, sympathique et très serviable. Nous avions également réservé à notre arrivée à San José. Le dernière nuit, la chambre était moins pratique mais elle était propre et pouvait loger les 5 personnes de notre groupe. Il y avait un souci de petits insectes derrière l'air climatisé et le quartier est un peu bruyant (voitures, coq qui chantait dès 3h le matin, trafic aérien). Cependant, l'endroit est très sécuritaire avec une palissade et un portail fermé et le déjeuner est franchement délicieux! Ils offrent même le service de navette jusqu'à l'aéroport. J'y retournerais sans hésiter.

The entire property is neglected. The pics online are obviously from many years ago. The paint is peeling off everything including the pool. There were weeds and dying foliage around the whole property and the bathrooms, specifically the shower was dirty, moldy and old.

I rarely leave reviews even when an experience is subpar, but felt the need to review Hotel Brillasol specifically because of the receptionist who was present when I arrived. I was taken aback by how rude he was. Right off the bat he seemed frustrated when I addressed him in Spanish (I’m not fluent, but certainly proficient and able to communicate). He spoke back to me in English, which was completely fine, except for the fact that he clearly didn’t understand my English very well. I arrived late (just after 11p), and requested an early shuttle at 4 or 415am because my tickets for my AM flight requested I arrive at 415. He told me “one hour is better”. I told him I would like to be there at the time my ticket recommended—415–and he seemed to agree/understand. There were essentially no lights outside of reception, and he gave me incorrect instructions about where my room was before handing me the key and telling me to go. It took me several minutes to actually locate the room, and I had difficulty with the key once I did. I tried turning it both directions, and it would simply turn three times both ways without unlocking. I wasn’t given instructions about the lock. When I went back for help, he looked at me like I was stupid, threw his hands up and said “¡Ay, Dios!”. He angrily followed me to my room and unlocked the door.

Just a quick stop before we flew home - only 3 miles from the airport via side roads was a dream! Cute little hotel- not fancy, but enough beds for all, a good little variety at breakfast and we'd definitely plan to start and/or end future trips from this friendly little place!
