Biking down "the world's most dangerous road" or "death road" is one of the most fun activities to do in Bolivia. Starting at high altitude in snow and ending in jungle! Did it with the awesome Gravity tours in La Paz who aren't lacking in the safety practices like other companies.
Bolivian popcorn located vendor in Plaza San Pedro. This was located right outside "San Pedro" prison which became famous due to the book "Marching Powder". Significantly different from most correctional facilities, inmates at San Pedro have jobs inside the community, buy or rent their accommodation, and often live with their families. The sale of cocaine base to visiting tourists gives those inside a significant income and an unusual amount of freedom within the prison walls. Elected leaders enforce the laws of the community, commonly through stabbing. The prison is home to approximately 1,500 inmates (not including the women and children that live inside the walls with their convicted husbands), with additional guests staying in the prison hotel. Guards outside San Pedro highly frown on taking photos of the prison, so the cool super-sized popcorn bin is the best i could do. No complaints. #Culture
