"I booked the room for my colleague, she said, "the hotel is dodgy, quite dirty and a hostel with interesting characters, smells of weed and generally no safety… the breakfast was really bad and I was the only one there… it seems like it’s not a hotel that is actually used for tourism/business." She felt so unsafe that she left after the first night. I am writing to request a refund. Please advise."

"The hotel is cheap and you get exactly what you pay for. Don't book if you are expecting room service and everything to be perfect. Some rooms have faulty lights. Some have glasses and some don't. It's not perfection but I defy you to show me better in Aberdeen for £29 - £34 a night! A few ideas for the hotel chain. Increase your price by £5 and scrap the annoying parking charge? Open up the bar for crying out loud! You will make more money and please more guests! Try to be a bit more consistent...

"Very nice home and property. Great value. Seems like an excellent location for visiting Aberdeen. Hosts were great. Parking was easy (and free). Only one minor issue. Our room was in the front of the house which is on a very busy street. So with our window open (it was unseasonably warm during our trip) there was quite a bit of traffic noise."

"A nice independent hotel in a great central location. Opposite the bus station and Union Square shopping centre and very close to the rail station. Also within walking distance of many shops, restaurants/bars and attractions. The hotel is on a main road and if you are a light sleeper then this may mean it a bit too noisy for you. The room and hotel in general were very clean. The room was spacious as was the bathroom, both of which were very clean. The only criticism I had was the squeaky...

"Cons- very poor signage finding room . Room 516 is not as you might expect on the 5 th floor . It’s on the 3rd floor. No maid service over a 3 night stay ! Had to empty our own bins and no fresh towels or beds made , lumpy pillows Restaurant staff ordering was one person doing their best with a big queue every night at 6 pm . Got disturbed at 8 am to install a new smoke detector Pros - bed was comfy . ,room was spacious,"

"We upgraded our room to a deluxe and the bedroom was huge, the bed was so comfortable. The room itself was clean and there was some nice features, it could do with a full length mirror . We didn't have breakfast as we thought £15pp was expensive when you can get it for less in town. We stayed on the 2nd floor and wish we had a top floor room the noise from other residents is deafening. Doors slamming and hearing other people's bathroom water running interrupted our sleep. "Love this hotel which has also had a wee upgrade since being taken over by its new owners recently but still retains its warm welcome for visitors as well as being a popular venue for locals. Parents first stayed here in 1962 and it was always a favourite for family meals out or a drink in the bar. Had a lovely warm and comfortable room and fab breakfast! Bus stop into the centre is just outside or it’s a fine walk into town or to Rosemount (just allow for the uphill on the way back 😊) So glad...
