Second stay here, as last time the hotel is great. Location is good, the hotel is clean, the staff are great, very good value, nice breakfast, and the spa makes it special.

There was a wedding on which we were not informed of prior so on site parking was limited for hotel stayers. The lawn outside the rooms had people in eye-line so it was uncomfortable having the windows and blinds open. There was loud music on gone 11pm with people being loud inside also and with thin walls you could hear the music well in your room. Staff were helpful however it was clear the wedding guests were the main priority.

The staff are lovely and friendly, but this hotel needs updating, the rooms are really worn, thread bare carpets and very tired bathrooms, no privacy at the windows unless you close the curtains and the lighting in the room was provided by lamps, for a Mercure hotel this is shameful, especially for the price paid, we were disappointed.

Nice setting, comfy well equipped rooms. Spa facilities pretty grim. Food in restaurants basic but acceptable. Service in bar, restaurants, reception challenged by understaffing, which sadly is a sign of the times not a criticism of those working. Overall ok value for money for a business trip.

I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and welcoming this hotel was. Parking was difficult to find during the day but by the evening there were plenty of spaces. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help me get a travel cot. The bed was comfortable and and curtains near to blackout. Breakfast was nice - and they made me some veggie sausages which were actually good! The swimming pool was lovely and hot, and the spa facilities were clean and we enjoyed our stay. The rooms are dated but clean.

We were booked into Room 206 and the hot water from the bath 'scalded ' my right foot. This occurred on morning of 16 August 2026. There was no sign warning of this and I had to run cold water over the area on top of my foot for several minutes. I am 77 years old and fortunately quite able to quickly remove myself from the bath. However should any guests suffer the same way and NOT as able as myself the consequences could be quite devastating. I alerted the reception on our exit. Please consider signage before there is a serious incident.
