"The rate offered online was great which is why we booked here. There was an additional $50/day for the resort fee and parking which we weren't happy about. When we checked into the room, the carpet was wet and squishy (very gross). To top things off, my son got food poisoning from the poke bowl at the onsite restaurant Mamahune's and spent the night throwing up with diarrhea. On the plus side, the staff was nice, the pool was Ok and the hot tub was nice after a long hike. Nevertheless, we of course won't be returning."

"Makai was a wonderful and place to stay. The rooms were large and had everything you need to cook a nice meal. The pool and spa area was well kept and the service was outstanding. Can’t wait to come back again. "

"Having the cottage is awesome with a porch that looks out to the ocean! The cottage was basically clean, but not like the baseboards are near the bed which was kind of gross. However, the Waimea area is amazing, and I loved the separation from others by staying in the cottages"

"The lobby was under construction, so getting checked in and to our room wasn’t what we expected. I’m sure when the lobby is finished, it will be nice. We only stayed one night before leaving Kauai, so we didn’t use the amenities. We wanted to use the hot tub, but one was closed and the other was full. "
