Thunderbird Lodge - Inside the Park

"The property is older same as all the other lodges inside the South Rim Village but that adds to the charm and history. Rooms were clean and beds fairly comfortable. We were there for the amazing views of the Grand Canyon anyway. There was a massive power outage due to fire risk the day before we arrived and power was just coming back on so unfortunately not all restaurants were open. They did have a good truck and two other locations to get a quick bite. No big deal and we really enjoyed our stay at the Thunderbird."

"We LOVED this place. Our room was about a 60 second walk to the rim of the Grand Canyon which made it easy for each person in our family to do as much or as little as they wanted. We were given a room with a view of the Grand Canyon Railway tracks from the balcony, which was an extra treat for our train-obsessed 8 year old son who loved waving at the train as it arrived and left each day. The food options offered by the hotel were very good, and all the other Grand Canyon Village restaurants were only a short walk away. We highly recommend staying here - it was a perfect Grand Canyon vacation experience."

"The property was clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful and always greeted us coming in and leaving. The TV was modern, and good size for the room with plenty of selections Internet was above average. The pool and hot tub were very nice and extremely clean. The bed was comfortable and the property was quiet. Breakfast is very basic with no hot offerings other than oatmeal. It was okay, however, for a quick bite before heading out. The GC National Park is only about 10 minutes north and very convenient. HOWEVER, everything in this town is extremely expensive. There is one grocery store and one gas station, and they are clearly aware they are the only options for several miles. Please bring lots of snacks, drinks, etc, especially if you have children. There is small fridge and a microwave. The only small complaint is the property asked for my phone number when I checked in and then promptly started sending us two text messages a day advertising a restaurant across the street. I didn't give my number to get spammed on vacation, and this was in poor taste. We did opt out, but this was quite audacious in my opinion. They should end this practice. The coupon they provide at check-in is enough for me to know there is a restaurant with a discount across the street. I need not receive two reminders a day. Otherwise, a nice place to stay and reasonably priced."

"Our family stay was a great experience. The tavern was a great place to hangout after hiking and the rooms were comfortable and felt like staying at a summer camp. Cleanliness could have been a little more attended to but overall would recommend as a convenient and comfortable place to stay after a long day exploring."
