"The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds"

"On first arrival, we were relieved, as the hotle seemed quite nice. However, after we walked down the stairs to our room, we were hit with a strong smell of damp, which unfortunately also smelled quite strongly in the room. We were also at street level with a public pavement right outside, so didn't feel like we could leave the windows open safely."

If you're having a short stay there's no housekeeping by default, (which they don't tell you when you arrive) but there's only a small (non-heated) towel rail, so you're going to have soggy towels on day 2. "As many have said, this is a dated hotel with a very 1970s feel. We stayed on a Friday night as we had an early flight the next day, and the car park was very busy (as was the bar, so we ended up eating in a side room). The food was actually pretty good. The rooms were fairly basic but comfortable, and we felt safe the whole time. It was a very short walk to the airport the next morning (I asked if they did wake-up phone calls and got a firm 'no'). "The house is beautiful. It's built around a courtyard with the bedrooms on one side and the living rooms on the other. So, even if some people are up late in the evening, it doesn't disturb those who want to go to sleep. There were 8 of us including 2 children and we had plenty of space. The many bathrooms made getting ready in the mornings very easy. The village has no facilities, but everything you need is a short drive away. I would definitely recommend."

"I stayed in the dog friendly room which was ok but not great. The carpets were stained and when we first walked in the room we could smell dog it wasn't a fresh smell. There was a half used toilet roll in our bathroom and no fan so it steamed up quite quickly. The room was at the bottom of the beer garden so was very noisy which wasn't that much of a problem. "Love are stay. Very welcoming. Staff were great. Room clean but could do with a paint job as paint was flaking. Plenty of choice for tea and coffee. For the room being above a pub it was very quiet. Breakfast good"
