"I had a very disturbing experience with one of the hotel’s security guards. To help management identify the correct person, I am referring to the security guard with a visible “904” Florida area-code tattoo.
Later that night, around 11 PM, this security guard called me and told me he had someone on the line. When the other person came on, they identified themselves by saying, “Hi, this is ICE.” I immediately hung up.
Afterward, I remember receiving several additional calls from the security guard before I blocked the number.
I have a noticeable foreign accent, and given the circumstances, the interaction left me feeling as though the reference to ICE may have been intended to intimidate or frighten me because he perceived me as an immigrant. I cannot know his actual motivation or verify who the person on the other end of the call was, so I am not presenting that as a fact.
Regardless of the motivation, I found this behavior extremely inappropriate and concerning from someone working in hotel security. I hope hotel management investigates the incident and identifies the employee involved so that other guests do not have a similar experience."
