The bed was horrible, the bathroom was not very clean as there was mould and dirt in the shower and around the sink, the bed side table draw had a sticky patch, the sink plug was not working, the tooth brush holder on the wall and cup was dirty and not straight, the soap holder on the wall was not clean, dirty and not straight, a big crack in the wall so it needs filling in as there was a big spider there, the shower was very slow and all the bathroom stuff e.g. the mirror was not straight so that needs sorting so deffo not worth £70 for the night but the 2 good bits was the food and drinks.

very large room and bed with a sofa and large TV. beamed ceiling and nicely decorated - so plenty of space.
fixtures and fittings looking a bit tired or neglected though - like it's waiting to be overhauled.
single glazed windows mean you can really hear the traffic on the busy road.
its a pub - so don't expect the ritz. food was quite good though.

Although first impressions were very good, unfortunatly thery were holding a Cider festival with live music. Our family room backed onto the garden where a marquee had been erected, hosting a very loud band. They may as well have set up in our room. This led to me taking a very tired little boy out in the car to a layby so he could sleep. if we had be pre-warned of this event we would have reviewed our booking. If you are going to stay here, check for any events first.
Quirky room with fireplace above main bar. A hot night so windows needed to be left open so road noise and car park noise.
Pub food good and some Gluten Free and Vegan choices on the menu.
Good breakfast choice freshly cooked and tasty. Good choice of cereal and Gluten Free toast available.
Stayed here when visiting Alton towers. Room was very spacious and comfortable. Lovely cooked breakfast in the morning. And only a 2 minute drive to Cheedle (shops, supermarkets and take-always) and a 7-10minute drive to Alton towers :-)
Staff were friendly and helpful, hotel was clean and the breakfast was excellent. Well worth the money.

Warm welcome
We were given a very warm welcome and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. The room we had was HUGE and very comfortable. The reasons for my lower scores are that it wasn't particularly clean and is a little shabby.
The Huntsman is a great pub with great food. On top of this, it is also a small guest house.
The room we had was generous in size and comfortable. The bed was fine. The road outside is busy but the double glazing stopped most of the noise. The shower cubicle and electric shower could be better but this did not spoil our stay.
What was fantastic? The owners welcome and the breakfast. Superb quality of bacon and especially sausages with meat coming from the farm across the road.
