We checked in around 8pm after going to an event. The boiler had exploded at some point that night. There was no heat or hot water. This is a remote location, so at that point in the day we didn't have another option. I realize what happened was out of their control, but they didn't offer anything to help accommodate for this issue, even just a free breakfast would've been fine. We paid full price for a place without heat or hot water. We couldn't shower in the morning before we met family and friends, which was honestly embarrassing. The staff didn't talk to us at check out or apologize.

So when I checked in I was made aware that there was no heat in the building due to an explosion in a power plant but was told there is hot water from a temporary water heater, next morning no hot water for showers very disappointed i wasn’t made aware of the issue before hand so I could have found an alternative hotel.

Bed was terrible, very firm mattress. They were having an issue with heat when we checked in, I guess there was a town wide issue. TV did not work in our room. We had dinner in the restaurant, which was good. Check-in and check out were easy and quick.

We always stay in this hotel when we’re in the area. Staff is always friendly and professional. Hotel is clean and room is comfortable. My only complaint is the mattress; it’s time for them to be replaced. The hotel is showing signs of aging and needs some TLC but over all a very nice hotel. They have pool tables. Will continue to be our go to place!!

You would never know you are in southbridge once entering the building. Clean, staff is super friendly. Nice place to say with good prices.

The hotel is in a nice and quiet area, and the hotel itself is very beautiful and well-decorated. It’s a bit outdated with older elevators and worn seats, but it still has an elegant feel walking in. The staff is friendly and receptive. Their mini store is not great, it’s small and there was nowhere to get plastic utensils except at the bar. Which would be okay, but I had two small children with me that I wasn’t intending on bringing into a crowded bar. The pool area is nice. The pool is a decent size, and the hot tub is pretty great. It could be maintained a bit better throughout the day- a few times there weren’t enough towels, the bins remained empty over a period of 1-2 hours. There were also a few times that people had left food around the hot tub that wasn’t cleaned until the next day. The rooms are super spacious and the chairs are incredibly comfortable. I ended up sleeping in one during my stay because the mattresses were SO uncomfortable. None of us got quality sleep during our stay because they were just so bad. No microwave in the room but there was one in the mini store. Overall, it is an okay place to stay. Nothing really stands out, but nothing (except the beds) is really terrible, either.

The hot tub was closed due to a child leaving feces in it. Very disappointed since I waited later in the day to use it to avoid children and found out at the time they were not being properly supervised. In the third floor laundry room there was a water basin that had constant dripping water and there was poop in it. The food and cocktails were fair to average. The service staff was about the best you could hope for. The room was fine, clean & very roomy. The table & chairs in the lounge/bar area need replacing. Chairs very wobbly & tables underneath are falling apart. Although my stay was fair, I would consider booking again.

A clean place! I didn't see any yucky corners or forgotten surfaces. I was pleasantly surprised by this beautiful hotel, which also contains the Optical Museum. WOW! I love how the historical features have been preserved, and importantly the Danbury marble fireplace which is a feature of the museum. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: after a long day of travel I wanted to hit the hot tub after dinner, but it closed at 9:00pm. If it weren't for the hot tub I would not have ended up here, so Expedia got me on that one. Another issue is that I was waiting at the front desk for twenty five minutes. Come to find out, those were the 25 minutes the pool area was getting locked down. I suggest accommodating adults who may come in late from long travels by keeping the hot tub and pool open until 10:00pm. Food: I had an outstanding Caesar salad for a very reasonable price, with wonderful service from Larry the bartender! Thank you, Larry! PS If they hadn't closed the pool down I would not have discovered the Optical Museum!
