"Amazing lodge with great views and access to shuttles that take you to the hiker shuttle stop (visitor center), grocery stores and eateries. The cabin like house with kitchen was great with a toddler. Would definitely recommend this place if you are planning your visit to RMNP"

YMCA of The Rockies Estes Park

"We got a balcony room in Wind River Lodge. It was the main floor if entering from the main entrance. Room was definitely dated, no AC, dirty in the corners. But functional. We didn't spend much time in the room besides sleeping, so it was fine. We were there mid-July with daily highs of about 90F. Box fan and windows open kept the room cool overnight. Curtains do not block any sunlight though so baby and kids were up with sunrise! No elevators so if you're not on a main floor or "basement", you'll have to climb stairs. For what it is, it was fine. I think next time we'll pay more for a newer, cleaner property with AC. The grounds were very pretty. Deer walking around, saw some babies. We also went horseback riding (have to pay extra). Did not use dining facilities or any other amenities on the site. Probably better value if you plan to do some of many activities available on site."

Expedition Lodge Estes Park

"This property was a bit of a mixed bag. On the plus side, it's in a safe, convenient location for shopping and visiting Rocky Mountain National Park, and the common areas are nice. There's a large arcade, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating areas, and a large breakfast area. Unfortunately, the guest rooms don't live up to the public spaces. Our room felt dark, dated, and a little dingy. The biggest disappointment, however, was housekeeping. We stayed for two nights, but our room was never serviced. After a long day hiking in the park, we were looking forward to returning to a clean room, fresh towels and a chance to relax, only to find the room exactly as we'd left it, with dirty towels still on the floor. When I called to request a restock, only bath towels were delivered, so I had to call back to request hand towels, washcloths, additional toilet paper, and tissues. When I asked about the lack of housekeeping, they said they "try" to get to all the rooms, but sometimes aren't able to. Breakfast was decent overall. The main offering was a "deviled egg bar," which seemed like an unusual breakfast choice, but everything else was OK. Overall, this is a reasonable budget option if you're looking for an affordable place to stay in Estes Park. That said, if your budget allows for spending a little more, I think you'll find better overall value elsewhere."
