"The property is timber framed and old, really old. Cleanliness and condition is very good but this building needs constant maintenance. We loved it, it’s very old and full of history. Very cute little town, very nice surroundings. We hit it in the middle of a heat wave and there is no AC, in fact there’s likely no AC in most of the village but the normal temperature does not require it. We were just unlucky. "Central location"

"The staff was great - friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast on the premises. There was plenty of a/c which was most important. I paid extra to use the pool facility. The pool was small and crowded. Children were jumping in and no rules were enforced. If you want to cool off the pool is worth it but otherwise it wasn't great. Overall I recommend the hotel. Enjoy the food and great atmosphere at the bar."

"Ideally situated for Burghclere Castle.Amenities in the room was more than adequate with all the extras such as hair dryer, iron ironing board for those staying more than overnight.Extras in the room water tea coffee and chocolate biscuits etc all the extra touches.Quality bed linen and towels. "The room was spacious with a big bathroom, and access to a shared living room was an extra bonus. All of the staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great."

"Due to hot weather I asked if we could move to a lower floor room for our 2nd night ( they had provide 1 fan that was already in the room and 2nd one which I asked for but room was like an oven ..) The staff were fantastic and found a room within a few minutes on a lower floor and cooler .. Thank you to the staff"
