"What a ln absolutely stunning location and and building and we have stayed in some lovely hotels being Gold members. Beautiful. But most striking were the team. The front of house reception team were so so welcoming. The general manager was one of the. Invest people we’ve come across. So polite personable and helpful. We were in one of the cottages (tulip) and I must say usually hotels with outside/annexed rooms are usually not as nice but these cottagez have us feel of living in a village with the entrance to the hotel just adjacent to our cottage. We loved it. The room was Lovely. Spacious yet cosy. Lovely amenities in the bathroom which was clean and welcoming. The breakfast was hot plentiful and set us up for the day. So much options for seating and free to sit wherever. Lovely views from wherever you sit. Thencast iron grill restaurant was lovely. The furnishings are stylish modern and timeless which blend well with the old historic building. Plenty of parking. The only things they could be improved was the bar felt a little tired and sofas were old. The outdoor seating made it not look like a Marriott branded hotel. Could be made to look a little more stylish quite easily. Do not hesitate to book. It’s a gem. We are looking forward to coming back soon. Thank you team. "

"I stayed in the main building with heigh ceilings & it is full of character . The staff are unbelievably friendly & quite happily amended my evening meal to suit me . Fabulous views from many rooms & the sunset has to be seen from the large terrace . Within 1 minute , you are in the historic town centre "

"The hotel itself is an impressive building, but it is clearly in need of renovation. We stayed in an outside room (No. 17), which felt quite dated and would benefit from some updating. During our stay, there was an unpleasant sewage smell coming from the bathroom, which was disappointing. The room was also very warm, and adjusting the radiator thermostats didn’t seem to have any effect. As a result, we had to open the window, but this meant dealing with constant noise from the busy road outside, which made it difficult to sleep. On the positive side, there were plenty of parking spaces available, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming."

"No hot water and when we arrived (it had clearly been an issue as we heard other guests talk about it) no one mentioned it. Someone from our party went to ask reception and they were very dismissive. The next day still no hot water, I understand they couldn’t have fixed it there and then but they could if been proactive is telling us and offering to try and fix it."

"We upgraded as we were looking forward to a arelaving treat for me and my partner. The upgrade was supposedly their best room which was full of cobwebs in the lounge area the bedroom and the bathroom and their dust everywhere and even worse inside the wardrobe it was thick with dust unableto put clothes in their . The furniture was falling apart and pieces missing off bits of furniture also. After I booked i was told breakfast last call was 10.30 am . We turned up at 9.45 to be told breakfast had stopped at 9.30 so we had to leave early and go buy breakfast at a local cafe. Extremely disappointed with this stay honestly I wouldn't recommend it to anyone the facilities are ok but the rooms are terrible. Im going to get a refund as im upset with the service , cleanliness of the room and booking bed and breakfast to not be able to have breakfast as it was stopped at 9.30. Really disappointed better service hotels for the same money do not recommend."
