"The hotel is very nice. Easy access using the door codes. Rooms are very modern and lots of space. Like others have mentioned, the bed isn't the easiest to get in and out of but I did find it cozy as I don't have any mobility issues. Some small shelves on the wall next to the bed/outlet area would be nice for laying your phone, watch, etc. Others have mentioned the noise. I made an effort to be quiet as I could hear others in their rooms and using the stairs. There was a white noise...

"I recently stayed at The Hollis for 3 nights in Halifax. The check-in was swift and was even welcomed with a warm baked chocolate chip cookie which was a great way to settle in. Reception staff were very pleasant. We were provided a beautiful suite with a waterfront view to the Halifax harbour and enjoyed this view. "Loved the room and Mary at check-in, great recommendation for a cortado from the concierge Had a late lunch in the restaurant food was great, service not so much. Treated with indifference and a server opened the front door, she saw my reaction and left both doors propped open anyways. It was a cold rainy day. I mentioned it to my server and he said, “oh, it’s hot in here” Not impressed"

"The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean. The only issue with the room was that there was condensation in between the window pains so it obstructed the view. Other than that it was nice and comfy. The rooftop was an awesome feature. Sat out there often. We did the hot tub once, it was ok but the jets were almost nonexistent but not terrible. Overall great location and great experience."

"Great location along Granville & Sackville Streets, just a few short blocks from the waterfront and terrific value for money. Room was clean and though a little small, had all the essentials including a desk with a phone charger and wifi, lots of hooks on the door, as well a cabinet to put away and hang up personal items like clothing. There were several individual bathrooms on each floor and all came with a shower. Each floor has a shared common area with a kitchen and fridge, microwave, etc....

"Promised a water view and promised to be allowed to check in at 2 pm. When checking in at 5 pm, told there would be a 45 minute wait to get the room ready. To get another room at 5 pm we were put in a non water view room, given free parking and free snacks for compensation for the non water view which we had booked months previously so we could watch sail gp from window. Disappointing for sure. We did appreciate the compensation but kind of ruined our stay not to have the water view."

The hotel is situated across from a very shady looking apartment building and next to a few larger buildings that look like housing projects. The vestibule was filthy, as if it hadn't been swept or otherwise cleaned in months. The lady at the desk seemed indifferent, at best, to our arrival, as if we were bothering her. We stayed in the Sunrise suite and were surprised at JUST how how open the door plan was - there was no partition whatsoever between bedroom and bathroom, and had a full view of toilet and shower from our bed. This would be a lovely room for a single person, but an awkward setup for two people, as there was no privacy for bathroom use.
