Village Hotel Birmingham Walsall
4/10 Poor
"Captured audience so the food was outrageously priced £30.00 plus for a bang basic mixed grill. Parking in a huge car park was £10.00 with plenty of spare places. Even blue badge holders were charged the same but all the disabled bays were taken up by gym users etc and only one badge displayed in 20 plus bays. The signs indicating payment were not noticeable and we saw a few residents falling foul of this. Worst of all. No check in desk. All electronic. Not intuitive at all. So much so that there were staff permanently stood by the consoles helping folks check in and out. Just have a bl@@dy reception desk! There’s knob all other than a KFC nearby (although Champy’s a short drive away is sublime and highly recommended). All in all a comfy bed and that’s about it. This place is more about greed in my opinion. Do yourself a favour and swerve this one. There’s plenty better and cheaper. One more thing, it’s a refurbished property and if you know anything about building, there’s plenty of sticking plasters. You can’t make a silk purse out of a sows ear! Greed in my opinion."

Buckatree Hall Hotel
2/10 Terrible
"Where shall i start we booked for 2 nights as it was our 48th Wedding Anniversary as soon as we got to reception the attitude of the 2 young lads was awful no welcome to the Hotel nothing we went into the Bar as we were a little early trouble was no pulled beers available they made us feel as if we should not be there when they took us to our room 2 single beds pushed together we had booked a double anyway we left it at that unpacked sort of wife went to put the tv on just to check no signal so i asked one of the young lads if they would come and sort it out his attitude when he came was awful got the remote tried nothing then he got you tube and said you will have to watch that and left nothing else then that decided to pack up wife went to reception and asked again told her someone will be down soon well guess what nobody showed up so that was NO pulled ales NO food No Heating we asked for extra duvet and was told they couldnt supply any we are pensioners and was freezing all night.so we decided to go the next morning and forgo the 2nd day as we were checking out another customer was complaining about all the same issues that we were so my advice to anyone please do not this so called Hotel."

The Sutherland
8/10 Good
"The hotel is refurbished (previously called White House Hotel) so quite smart but fairly dark inside the rooms as the decor has quite a bit of black. The hotel has a good free car park and 13 double ensuite bedrooms with walk-in showers. The bathroom floor can get quite slippery if wet as the shower has an open side. Bedrooms are on the first and second floor, but there isn't a lift, so it is not suitable if mobility issues. Worth asking for 1st floor rather than 2nd if you can't manage more than 1 flight of stairs. Ver comfortable beds. Bedrooms quite warm though it was cool outside, but bedroom and bathroom windows open and there seems to be an a.c. unit in the wardrobe. Tea and coffee facilities in the room. Also a coffee machine in the room but needs instructions. Fruit juice, tea or coffee and a tasty gluten free cooked breakfast (nicely cooked bacon, beans, tomato, egg cooked to suit, optional black pudding and toast). If you're gluten free, there aren't any cereal or pastries and you can't have the sausages or hash browns unfortunately."

"Great for a quicky stay but not near to much apart from the pub"
