Atraksi wisata di Lowfield Heath

Aktivitas, Atraksi Wisata, dan Tur

On a sunny 15th May 2012, I spent the whole day walking around Crawley and the environs of Gatwick Airport. My route was as follows: Three Bridges > Northgate > Manor Royal > Lowfield Heath > Charlwood (all the way round the edge of Gatwick Airport!) > Povey Cross > Horley. According to Google Maps, this is about 10 miles! I've seen this Grade II*-listed church described as "the finest small Victorian church in Sussex", although it was actually in Surrey for its first 107 years (1867-1974)! William Burges, an important ecclesiastical architect whose other works included the Grade I-listed church of the same dedication in Brighton, was responsible. I believe it was originally a chapel of ease to St Nicholas' Church at Charlwood (an ancient church which he restored around the same time). It now has great importance as the only surviving original building in Lowfield Heath. The Diocese of Chichester made it redundant in 2004 and sold it to Seventh-day Adventists from Hackbridge, south London, in 2008. They instigated a church plant, and the church is now very busy with worshippers belonging to the "Horley-Gatwick Seventh-day Adventist Church". Here's their homepage... horleygatwick.adventistchurch.org.uk/
