This is an old coaching inn, and has the characteristics you expect including timbers and low ceilings in the older section. The room was comfortable but could do with renovation. Breakfast was ok but a little limited. The biggest issue in the lobby and dining room was the perpetual music being played on repeat. It was intrusive and monotonous. The hotel is well paced in the High St with shops and restaurants nearby and in convenient for the river and the castle. Satisfactory for our needs.

Neglect of a beautiful old coaching inn, once the pride of Tonbridge. In particular the lovely beams, now over painted in white gloss.

Nice room although very warm and ready for a refresh. Comfortable bed, nice towels, TV aerial broken but my husband managed to fix it. Bathroom clean, room not serviced regularly resulting in full bins and no milk for hot drinks. All floorboards very creaky. Great location for all local amenities and train station and very reasonable price.

Central position and with parking was good Extent of air conditioning was just opening windows when hot . Basic breakfast was ok Overall was looked after by staff, and put right toilet flush mechanism quickly. Quirky and dated decor. Was happy there. Steve, July 2026

As other reviews have said the property is old and creaky and furnishings and carpets could do with being updated. The hotel is right next to the castle, pubs, restaurants and-supermarkets and is a great location. It’s a shame really as it could be really nice if a bit of TLC was added to the rooms and especially the entrance which really needs attention. Another Plus is the staff are really nice.

Parking was perfect and staff very helpful. Rooms were very tired and lacked any finishing. Bed very comfortable and sleep was spot on. Loved the central location, a bit of investment would fill the place all week through the summer.

Looks like this was once a really nice hotel but it feels dated and in need of a spruce up and some investment. Bar choices were limited as none of the taps were working. Free Parking was good and loads of food options nearby.
