"For a five star hotel it was disappointing. First the positives… the pool, and pool area was wonderful and spacious. The buffet breakfast was nice with plenty of choices. That’s where it ends. "The hotel is centrally located to walk to all of the attractions in Valletta and transport to every where outside of the city. The rooms are spacious, the air conditioning kept us comfortable and the shower was fitted with a rain shower head and a handheld one as well. The staff was excellent. We were greeted every morning by a welcoming staff serving us at breakfast, which was excellent (fresh fruit, pastries, local yogurt, cereals and a choice of a substantial hot breakfast). "Well located property, clean and modern. Nice staff, friendly and helpful. Minor problems resolved instantly. Close to Valletta, directly opposite a nice cafe and close to a mini supermarket for essentials. Some feedback: - Fridge/kettle couldn't be plugged in as they're EU plugs (Malta uses UK plugs). They also weren't close enough to plugs to use when we wanted to - A shelf in the bathroom for toiletries would be helpful. Very small cupboard under the sink was difficult to keep all of our...

"From the time we arrived our experience was perfect! The gentleman at the front desk (unfortunately forgot his name) was so welcoming and respectful! The lower level spa pool was such a special experience and the rooftop & pool was perfect as well. Located on a very quiet street in Valetta it was close to the main gate of Valetta, the Co-Cathedral and so many special places in Valetta. Although we stayed here for only one night (our first night in Malta it was special and unforgettable!"

"Good size room , great location for transport. On the down side walls thin so you can hear everything outside room, which is fine as long as you have not got noisy people on your floor which unfortunately I did. Breakfast was basic but fine. Bit odd that you eat it in the reception area with around 6 tables. Couple of complaints that were dealt with straight away by friendly reception woman did not get her name but works late afternoons and evenings."

"The San Karlu is a BEAUTIFUL hotel, right in the heart of Valleta. The staff were so friendly, rooftop pool was great to cool down in, and included breakfast was yummy. I would highly recommend lodging here during your stay in Malta. Thank you!"

"Lovely staff. Very welcoming and super helpful. Complementary bottled water and beach towel provided. Very good cooked breakfast with choice of fried, scrambled eggs or omelette. Good air conditioning and lovely little chill out lounge in the mezzanine. Very central location close to bars and restaurants but found it quiet once in the building. Would stay here again."
