"They need to add more signs how to get to the property. Both car navigator and Waze had difficulty locating the hotel. No sign to help a first time tourist to the location."
"Our stay at Casa do Rio was exceptional. There are 10 rooms with stunning views of the Douro River and vineyards. Our room was spotless and tastefully decorated, and we were welcomed with a plate of fresh figs and white port and all ingredients to make portonics.
The grounds are lovely with an infinity pool overlooking the river and two semi private fresh water dunking pools.
The food and was outstanding! We made our dinner selections earlier in the day and were treated to an exquisite 3 course meal complete with dessert and wine service. We were served a breakfast buffet every morning with fresh fruit and juices, cured meats and cheeses, an abundant offering of homemade breads, pastries and cake of the day. There were also eggs and meats prepared to order.
The staff and service completed our stay. They were genuinely warm and gracious. From Felipe, the manager who greeted us upon our arrival, to the Daniel and Carlos, our food servers for dinner, to all of the other staff who contributed to our amazing experience.
Wow!!"
"Awesome facility at the Quinta. We did a tasting and tour on arrival. We stayed in Amelia and felt like we had the entire house to ourselves. Very quiet, serene and secure. Easy walk into town."
"Beautiful site. Convenient location to the beaches. Spectacular sunset views over the ocean. Enjoyed grilling fresh local fish on the Weber kettle a couple of nights. Get a whole hake from the supermercado gadis in Cedeira. Pool was perfect way to cool off.
The restaurant up the street (5 min walk) is a gem.
Some of the shades were not fully functional. Could use some screens - need windows open to stay cool but that risked mosquitos getting in (this is at height of summer in mid August). Tough balance. Could use a box fan to help circulation into the rear room."
"Beautiful property immersed in nature. The views, architecture, pool and plants were stunning. Food at the restaurant was excellent. A really unique stay."
"Nice place in historic town. Room was large, clean, and bed was comfortable. Town is walkable, I walked from the bus stop. The hotel has a restaurant and the breakfast is nice, they set up a taxi service and they were nice. I did use cash in town and for the taxi which was appreciated. Everyone was so nice even though I didn't speak Portuguese."
"We had a wonderful stay at Quinta Nova.
Breath taking views, wonderful staff lots of relaxation and or course lovely wines.
Wonderful experience overall."
