Loxbeare: lane near Buttermoor. The lane from Swinesbridge to Loxbeare was re-aligned here when the North Devon Link Road was constructed and now runs parallel to it, with passing places provided. Elsewhere the lane is much more narrow. Looking north west

Washfield: the Exe valley and Hatherland Mill. Seen from Hatherland Wood, looking north. In the distance can be seen the disused Holmingham Quarry. The mill is listed by the DOE as a Grade II former farmhouse and there is no mention of its earlier function. However a local resident remembers his grandfather dressing the mill stones and a chipping extinguishing the candle!

Room was clean and staff were friendly, disappointed that there was no food available from 7pm in the restaurant and bar on the first evening also there were cars parked in ev charging but not charging their cars so we had to find another charger away from the hotel

Very friendly staff, hot tub wasn’t up to temp on our arrival but staff were very apologetic and we were not charged for it that evening. The Lodge was very clean, good quality bedding and toiletries.

Ive stopped here many times over the years, its quirky and a nice location, but it lets itself down badly . No redecorating has been done since opening.
