Staff were really friendly. Hotel and grounds were beautiful. Rooms were spotless. They also left a teddy on my daughters bed, which was lovely.the only 2 downsides were the WiFi (room 20) wasn’t reliable, this is fine if you don’t need the internet but if you intend to use it was a bit of pain because there was no mobile signal either. I like that it is a dog friendly hotel, however we had a dog barking most of the night at the hotel.

Beautiful old hotel with amazing grounds & easy walk to the lake. The room was spacious for 3 adults & we were very well looked after. Only downside was mh husband not having his favourite bourbon & no tawny port for me!! Thats being picky!!

Lovely venue, friendly staff, magnificent views. Erving menu choice limited but excellent quality. Some items have excesses that seem to cover the cost of the whole item whereas you have already paid a significant amount! 3 course nearly £60 then the cheese board is an extra £13.

Amazing Room Upgrade and Memorable Dinner

It was our first time visiting the Lake District, and our trip began with a stay at Cragwood Hotel. From the moment we checked in, the staff were so kind and helpful. To our surprise, they upgraded our room and even walked us there personally. The room was absolutely amazing—spacious, elegant, and felt almost like staying in a castle. We arrived at sunset, and when we opened the door, the view was breathtaking. It was such a peaceful, comfortable start to our trip, and really set the tone for a wonderful experience. We also had dinner at the hotel, which I would highly recommend. After checking in and relaxing, we went to the restaurant and were seated by the window. The dining area only had around five tables, which gave a sense of privacy and space between guests. The waiter was very friendly and attentive, and even surprised us with an extra sorbet. The food was absolutely delicious—something we won’t forget.

Beautiful older hotel with lovely gardens set on the lake with fantastic views of the lake from the bar and outside patio, comfortable slightly old fashioned in a good way, staff were excellent, helpful and welcoming. Would stay again.

Got married here two years ago, got upgraded as it was our anniversary. Food good, choice of dinner or bar menu. Beautiful location, goes out on to lake Windermere. Staff kind and helpful and the room was spotless. Thank you for making our anniversary memorable ❤️

Beautiful Hotel, grounds and location

Service was absolutely brilliant from all of the team and all webt above a d beyond to make our stay such a great experience. Cleanliness was spot on and the rooms are so spacious and decorated to such a high standard too. Breakfast was excellent and lots of choice too..well worth booking again thankyou to all staff 😀

Overnight stop off

Excellent over night stop off. Every member of the team we met was fantastic and the food at both dinner and breakfast was delicious. Stunning hotel in a stunning location and beautifully my able to walk down to the lake front was an added bonus. Would recommend without question and would definitely stay again.

Were looking forward to the peace and tranquility of a lakeside venue for a first time visit to the Lakes District after travelling from the other side of the world. First impressions: Room not ready at 3pm check in time. Room was extremely small to fit 2 suitcases or even a toiletry bag in bathroom. Partial lake view if you crane your head in a purchased “lake view room”. As a dog friendly hotel and a wedding venue, other paying guests treated as a low priority. Constant barking of numerous large dogs during our stay (day and night) and wedding parties taking over spaces that everyone should be free to use but feel they are being intrusive. Staff didn’t go out of their way to solve any problems that were addressed, only offering a “sorry”. Would not recommend or ever want to return to this establishment.
