The hotel is great for location to the castle, however: The lift wasn't working. Bathroom is unkept. In very poor condition. Cistern is continuously running water. The grouting is everywhere, apart from where it should be. Side of bath mdf all scrapped away. Brown mould. Bathroom sink tap broke off in hand. Plug holes were dirty. Bedroom : mattress didnt fit the bed stead. (In 2 halves, sideways) Side lamp not working. Curtains were in disrepair and not on runners. Black stains on carpet.

Staff was very helpful and friendly. Location was amazing and the parking was simple to negotiate. The room was the basic room but there was a huge crack in the sink and a very large stain on the curtains which was a little off putting.

Well this hotel falls far short of expectations. It is in a prime location opposite Windsor Castle. The reception area is tucked around the side on entry and not inviting. We had several problems with our room. Things not working and poor housekeeping. The over mirror lights not working were reported yesterday and still not working. The lift is not working either. Carpets are worn in several places despite not being open that long. Our room 218 is large and has a prime view to the castle. Overall this does not meet our expectations or offering value for money. The other chain hotels offer better facilities at a much lower cost. The owners need to review the management of this hotel to put this right

It was not a good stay from the off. A room with no power that could not be fixed Moved to another room with broken shelves in the wardrobe A very tired room with windows you could not see through I believe the staff did their best, however for a historically placed hotel of Windsor Castle, the Harte & Garter let itself down very badly. Sorry will not be returning Our friends had also booked rooms which also had problems and to cap it all the lift was out off action which was one reason our friend booked the hotel

This hotel has the location to be outstanding, but is sadly in dire need of major renovation. Threadbare carpets on the stairs, very dated fixtures and fittings, curtains ripped - it was a huge disappointment, because the view of the Castle and location is perfect. Having said that the hotel was very clean, good quality towels … please please renovate and it will be perfect!!

The hotel was ok as long as you don’t spend too much time in it. It is in a great location across from Windsor castle and my expectations were high. As soon as I walked into the poor reception area my expectations diminished. The room was large but cold, the shower had one temperature, luke warm. The whole hotel was tired and in need of some TLC. We had 3 coffee sachets in the room, no teabags, no decaf coffee. The tv only showed BBC channels.

Staff were very pleasant … but no amenities …. ( sorry we did have a kettle a small amount of tea … 1 tea bag ..coffee milk and a tiny bit of sugar )Rooms are in a poor state with mould round windows … peeling paint shabby curtains.

We had a great experience, everything very clean and great view of the Castle outside. Nice large room and staff very attentive, Heating in room not working, but an oil filled radiator was supplied that warm the room up lovely in no time Also, the shower probably needs updating as a little bit outdated and we were unable to get a comfortable temperature and flow ratefrom. All in all a very comfortable stay in a large room with great views of the castle at a great price definitively four stars out of five. We would definitely book again at this hotel

Great location, probably one of the best in Windsor. It’s a shame that the property didn’t live up to its prestigious surroundings. Other than the location, there isn’t much else going for the hotel. We had a room at the front with views of the castle, however when we arrived the curtains were closed, plug in heaters around the room and enough condensation on the windows to have a shower. The rooms are dated an in need of a good clean. The hotel could be great but has been left in disrepair. Blocked sinks dirty floors etc. Luckily we were only there for one night.

Room was tired, peeling paint, cracks, furniture in poor state. Even the bathroom tiles have been painted over and this was peeling. From the makeshift check in desk when you first walk in, the whole place feels run down and in need of some work.
