Considering this hotel is used by many tour groups, I was expecting this hotel to be quite nice.
I booked 2 nights in a Club Room with Executive Lounge access. Due to availability, my 3rd (and final) night was going to be in a Balcony/Terrace room. Changing rooms didn't bother me.
When checking in, they wanted to give me the (cheaper) Balcony/Terrace room for 3 nights. I told them I still wanted 2 nights in a Club Room with Exec Lounge access.
I was told the Exec Lounge was closed as no staff turned up to work. I was supposed to have free access to food and beverages from 2 - 5pm.
As the Exec Lounge was closed, I was told I could have a free coffee & cookie from the cafe instead. They would also wash 1 t-shirt free of charge per day.
I was then told by a manager that he had worked there for over 10 years. At no time in that 10 years had the Exec Lounge been open!
I took down 2 t-shirts to be washed (free of charge) and they wanted to charge me. Total CHAOS!
The beds were as hard as a plank of wood and the rooms smelt like mildew.
Carpet and furniture was quite dated, the bathroom door kept coming off the sliding tracks & water pressure was terrible.
When I moved to the Balcony room, the new room also smelt like mildew & the bed was no softer.
The concierge was always very helpful & obliging.
In an excellent location. Around 8-minutes walk to the Bell Tower.
I'd visit Xi'an again but I would probably stay elsewhere.
