South Ridge Inn

10/10 Excellent

"I think the highlight of this stay was the staff. The man at the front desk (I cannot remember his name, but he also has a house in Australia) was exceptionally kind and friendly. I was very wore out from a long drive when we arrived and he upgraded our room to a king bed. Everything in the room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was your typical continental breakfast. My only complaint (for lack of a better word) was that the coffee was a bit weak for my liking."

"We stayed on a Saturday night into Sunday, we booked a king size bed with a sofa bed. In reservation I included the fact that we would be traveling with our children and their ages, as requested. We arrived at our room and noticed there wasn’t any linens for the sofa bed for our two very young kids. I tried calling front desk 3 times and the line kept getting picked up & disconnected. I notified the front desk person when we were heading out to our activities on Saturday early after noon, shortly after check in, that we would need linens as there wasn’t any in the room. They assured me there would be linen set ready by the time we returned and to just stop back. We returned and Amber the manager on duty suggested “I could have them sleep on the bare mattress, lay a towel down, or go to the store and buy our own sheet set” since the hotel didn’t have anymore and she didn’t have time to go “dig something up”. Later during our exchange she threatened to kick myself and my family out and ban us from the hotel because I was simply asking for sheets for one of the beds in the room that I had booked weeks ahead. Amber was cold, rude, disrespectful and lacked basic customer service skills."

"We are a large family and stayed here for a couple of days to enjoy Cedar Point. The property is so close to the park which made it easy to do a mid-day break for lunch with the little ones before going back for the afternoon. The rooms were neat and tidy, with plenty of space which was really great for us to regroup all together. The breakfast was good and the staff was very responsive to making sure that various items were available; it was a great way to start the day. However, we were most impressed with the service given when we left a library book behind and didn't notice. They contacted us about the book and arranged to mail it to our home in San Antonio. We appreciate that they went above and beyond for us on this item. If we find oursevles going to Cedar Point in the future (and we hope we do), we will checking in again at Cedar Cove. Thanks for the hospitality!"

"Our room was nice and the property was well-maintained. However, our entire hallway smelled strongly of marijuana. When approached the staff they reported “not smelling anything” when it was so strong and pungent and the hotel has a 100% smoke-free ad right on your room key when you check in. Also, our entire hallway was loud until the middle of the night with screaming kids, doors slamming, someone pounding on our door etc. staff needs to do a better job in policing that. We are a baseball family and have lots of experience with hotels and this was by far the worst as far as noise and obnoxious kids/people running around the hallways and smoking marijuana in the rooms. Sorry you’re getting my review after getting no sleep due to the noise and the staff only allowing 1 hour of late checkout (and that took a lot of persuasion)."

"Water park hours were not good. Didn’t open until 10 and closed at 8pm. Rooms were never serviced and we were there 4 nights. Had to ask multiple times for clean towels. Room trash was overflowing. Water park was short staffed on the weekend and multiple attractions were closed. Hotel cafe had one person working. Waited 20 minutes for a premade breakfast sandwich."
