"I have stayed in many hotels but this was one of the best. The staff were very friendly and accommodating the hotel rooms here large and nicely decorated. The gardens provided a perfect setting for a late evening drink and winding down after a busy day. Yes there are probably, better hotels out there but for our stay this was a 5 Star event."

"In most respects all amenities and staff exceeded expectations however I was there during a heatwave and the small fan did nothing to alleviate the heat the room, so I think a 9/10 is a fair assessment. I will definitely stay there again when in Swindon "

"Easy to find and helpful staff when we arrived early . Light flickering in toilet but sorted by staff straight away . Found previous occupants half eaten Chinese takeaway still in the bin in the room which wasn’t great . Reported to reception all very apologetic but should really happen if housekeeping being done throughly . Maybe they just had an off day . Colleague in separate room only had one towel in the room, no bathmat and no hand towel but as a sole occupant she decided not to complain...

"Room very clean. Bar and food on site so no need to venture out for the night. Air con in room a bonus as it was a hot wkend so a comfortable night guaranteed. Easy on site parking with a small charge. Lovely hotel: would definitely stay again."

"Excellent hotel with very good rooms, quiet location on the edge of a large park. Plenty of parking and off beaten track so secure in that respect. Nice restaurant with varied menu choices; breakfast excellent. Staff welcoming and very helpful. I would definitely use this again in preference to others closer to or in the town but really need car to access."

"My room was up a flight of not very well light stairs causing me to miss the last step it was above the bar and entertainment room, live music started 9PM and finished 11PM fine until more music started, at 11.50PM I rang down to see how long it will last, I was told 10mins, never happened, I rang at 1.10AM to ask again, someone hung up on me then finally it stopped. In the room Breakfast was advertised from 8AM never started until 8.30 as I had a ferry to catch in Poole it was all a mad...

"This roadside pub with inn above was so convenient for my stopover to Highclere Castle, it’s a shame I didn't have more time there. The staff is friendly, the room is comfortable and quiet, the shower has great water pressure."

"Had a lovely stay the staff are so nice and helpful. Beds are very comfortable and the food is great. Was so nice being somewhere that caters for gluten free with no problems. This is our second stay here and we will definitely be back."

"The shower thermostat in my room did not work properly. It would not cool the water and was extremely hot. I told the reception when I left as I was only staying one night and only discovered the problem in the morning. It was inconvenient as I could not shower properly."

"The historic building is simply beautiful, very charming, and well-restored. The room was spacious, and the bathroom was well-equipped. The service in the restaurant was very friendly but extremely slow. The food was rather mediocre. Breakfast was actually quite poor. There was barely a tablespoon of yogurt with the granola, and the toast was cold and hard like rusk. The location itself is beautiful."

"The staff were very friendly, and made us feel at home! The room was cozy and the view was beautiful, though the road outside was rather noisy, but it dies down after dark. I was hooked on the Cotswold Stout while we were there, and the town absolutely won our hearts! Highly recommended The Bear if you're around Marlborough!"
