St Mary's church - porch and tower. St Mary's church has a late medieval tower and a Saxon doorway; the chancel dates from the late 13th century as is evidenced by the angle piscina > 831132 which is still in place. The interior was, however, extensively restored in the 19th century; medieval survivals are the C15 font, carved with arms of the Valoines family > 831134 and the original roof > 831127 - dating from the same time. Lovely site, with new shepherds huts and yurts being adds to the site.. work is ongoing but done respectfully. Very peaceful with no WiFi, no phone signal or TV.. which was a plus, sat into the night by the fire pit talking playing cards etc.
