"Fantastic"

"We have stayed a few times but before the hotel was closed for a few months we always enjoyed it here. We got into the room and the TV wasn’t working properly, staff did come to try fix it then the maintenance man. He couldn’t fix it so said he would speak to reception and ask for us to be moved, we waited an hour then went to reception the message had not been passed on. We then moved rooms, the tv worked for 30 minutes then the same thing happened at this point we just gave up. We then went to get some crisps from the bar to be charged £1 per packet for about 10 crisps so if your staying bring your own crisps as that was a complete rip off. We then went back to the room which was cold as the radiator was not heating up properly. At about 6am we heard an awful noise luckily my partner went to investigate and the kettle had started to boil without being switched on with hardly any water in we reported this the next morning. We did have a disappointing stay mainly due to maintenance issues, for a hotel that has been closed for 6 months you would expect it to be running with no issues. What refurbishments have been done I’m not sure as it still looks the same! Hopefully they will get the tv, heating and kettles sorted soon. "

"Lots of convenient parking. The breakfast was great with freshly cooked food to order and plenty of fruit and pastries. The bedroom was larger than average with two upholstered chairs and bathroom with a real bath."

"The hotel room was very clean and staff very friendly and helpful. The food menu was excellent. On the negative side, the hotel and rooms are in need of a refresh as quite rundown, but as the room was perfectly clean this wasn’t too much of an issue. The equipment at the breakfast station definitely need some replacements. The toaster kept tripping out and the coffee pot was useless as it needed to be pumped to get a tiny squirt of coffee out, although we had been told a replacement had been ordered. "

"I have now stayed here 3times in 6 weeks I love the place staff brilliant I travel to watch Wigan at rugby league 230 miles each time as for the beds the most comfortable I have had and I do not stay in the same room different each time wake up really refreshed love the place"

"We stayed at the Red Lion for a few days as we were meeting family. The accommodation is situated at the back of the pub and is bright and clean. You can access it by walking through the pub or walking round the back. There is plenty of parking but it can get busy when the pub is open! It’s situation means you have easy access to get to many places by road very quickly. The staff who work there are fantastic and very helpful. We had breakfast each morning as well which was excellent! I would recommend staying here"
