Checking in was a nightmare because I was given access to someone else’s room who wasn’t present but had left their stuff in the room. So that makes security a little bit of an issue here. If I wanted to of taken something I easily could have but I returned to the desk to be given a new room immediately. Once this was rectified the room I was given was ok and was in good shape. However also at 12:45am the fire alarms all went off due to someone smoking in one of the rooms. Luckily this was sorted quite quickly but it certainly gave me a freight.

This hotel needs work on it. Still only one lift. No bar. Others playing music till early hours and shouting. Once again fire alarms went of twice juring the night. Room next door was smoking so that set it off. Think security kicked them out of the hotel. Room had no coffee or milk so couldn’t make a drink.

Room was clean, staff friendly, facilities adequate. Mattress not very good , could feel the springs in it and pillows were too ‘fat’. I asked if it was possible to have another pillow but told they were the only ones available. It took me a while to go to sleep as it was very ‘raucous’ outside . Was woken violently at about 1.00 a.m. by the ceiling alarm going off. This sent my heart racing (I am 78 ) . I eventually went back to bed having tried to check why the alarm went of - my window was closed so nothing drifting in from there. The alarm then went off again. Needless to say I then couldn’t get back to sleep. Not happy!! I have noticed that there is a a notice on the mirror in the room referring to the alarm suggesting that if it is tampered with then a fine will be incurred. A very strange thing to have a notice about. I would suggest that this indicates that other guests have had a similar problem as I experienced and that the alarm system is faulty/ over sensitive and should be sorted. My reason for braking my journey from a or Niall was to get a good sleep before my next stage. This did not happen. Very dissatisfied. I did notice ther was s notice

No breakfast. At night they lock the doors so a staff member has to come to open it. Tv in room not connected to internet and cannot be mirror screened through mobile or other electronic device. Only audio can be mirror streamed but not videos.

This is a no-frills, practical hotel that does the job if you’re out late and need a convenient place to rest for a few hours. It’s close to the shops and within reach of a late-night McDonald’s, making it a handy option for a short, central-ish stopover. For longer stays or if you’re after a bit more comfort, it may be worth considering other options.

Dirty towels had been left in the shower. The fabric of the hotel was worn and grubby. I ordered a double room as I wanted a large bed, but was given two singles next to each other. The area around the hotel had lots of homeless people sleeping on the street, and there was a smell of weed in the vicinity of the hotel. At night, I was kept awake by the raised voices of people arguing in the street. I will not be staying in this unpleasant hotel again.

The check in is 24/7 and really convenient, but the room was quite dirty - toilet not fully cleaned, hair in bathroom and marks on carpet, walls and side table.

Had an executive room on 9th floor. Bed was never made. Tea/Coffee/Milk was never renewed. Windows was filthy. Only one lift was working so had to wait ages to go up or down.

With this hotel, you are really getting what you pay for - it's a very reasonable price to be right next door to New Street and the station, and that is clearly the reason many folks would use it. However, it is very basic. There is no bathmat, no soap or shower gel/shampoo provided. Also the bed mattress is very cheap (can feel each and every coil spring!) and the pillow about as thin as a towel. But, again, this is a value place and ultimately it's all about the location.

the hotel is very central especially if you are travelling by train. i stayed in room 233, there was no window! 4 solid brick walls, no fresh air or natural light. No Airconditioning just an old-fashioned fan, i think if you are going to sell a room without a window you should advise the guest as it is a natural expectation! just as you expect a bed and a bathroom.
