Our recent stay was unfortunately marred by logistical issues and poor maintenance.
What should have been a straightforward arrival turned into a nightmare; the main access road was closed, and GPS (Google Maps) repeatedly led us in circles for over an hour.
While we appreciated the receptionist eventually meeting us nearby to guide us in, the start of the trip was incredibly stressful.
The Room & Facilities
The disappointments continued once we checked in:
Maintenance Failure: We informed Reception that our bedroom window was faulty and would not close. Despite being promised it would be fixed while we were out, we returned at night to find it still wide open. We froze throughout the night and were forced to use towels to plug the large gap to keep the draft out.
Bed Size: We were surprised to find a standard double bed. In most modern hotels—and certainly within the IHG portfolio—a King or Queen is the standard.
Amenities: To top it off, there was no ice available in the hotel.
The Silver Lining
The only redeeming quality of the stay was the breakfast. It was very good with a nice variety of options, and the staff in the dining area were pleasant.
Final Verdict
Overall, this was a major letdown compared to our previous IHG experiences. Between the lack of follow-through on a basic maintenance request and the sub-par room features, we will not be booking this hotel again.
