"Our room was excellent very quiet with lovely comfortable bed, nice bed linen, towels and plenty of tea&coffee etc. Breakfast was delicious. We ate evening meals at the hotel which were homemade and great quality and reasonable price. New owners have taken over hotel just over 2 mths ago and we found them to be very friendly, welcoming and hard working. "A great location to stop after a long drive. Very convenient. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was spotless with lovely locally sourced products. Whilst we didn't eat dinner here it was busy and there us a children's play area too. We ate at the Hare & Hounds; a very pleasant 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of car parking spaces at the Gilpin. The breakfast is very basic. We would definitely stay again but not opt for the breakfast."

"This is a unique little inn in the middle of the country. It was a fun stay, even though we only stayed overnight as we were traveling from Scotland highlands to London. The beds were fine, not spectacular. The bathrooms were clean and the shower pressure was amazing! The only thing I have to complain about is that the staff opened the windows and even though we shut them right away, I was still bitten up by midgies all night."
